Why I'm Scared of an Obama Presidency

I cannot say that I am "scared" of an Obama presidency, but I will not vote for him. My primary reasons are:

1) Resurgence of Big Labor

2) Willingness to talk to Hugo Chavez and Ahmadinajad

3) Limited international experience (i.e. has never visited Latin America)

4) Not sufficiently supportive of defense measures, such as missle defense

If Obama is elected president, I will certainly give him a chance and wish him success. But I have serious doubts and concerns.

I'm leaning towards writing in Hillary's name on election day.

Fear bought Bush his last term, so you guys are just sticking with what works huh?...pretty smart actually!:thumbsup2

"Keep your fears to yourself, share your courage with others."
~Robert Louis Stevenson

I'm scared of people who are scared of Obama but allowed an incompetent moron run our country for from 2000 to 2008....:surfweb:

There is nothing to fear but fear itself.

DING! DING! DING! We have a winner!

I'm scared of NOT changing course.

How well is everything going at the moment?

Well I'm impressed that none of the usual suspects have piped in with their favorite comeback of, "What you're really afraid of is a scary black man being elected as POTUS."

Well you can't have racisim without fear....but you can have fear without racisim, don't you know that "we" "the usual suspects" are smart enough to seperate the two.
BTW, I have restrained from even replying to the many not so subtle remarks made by a few conservatives on here lately about "diversity" etc...
It's not even worth it sometimes.:headache:

Sorry, but I have no clue what you're trying to say. I've seen some posters flat out say that anyone who says they have issues with Obama, that the bottom line really comes down to that they are a racist. So are you implying that conservatives aren't smart enough to separate the two??

You're absoloutely right. We had a budget surplus for the first time that I can ever remember. We weren't at war. I was able to purchase a nice home. We were respected around the world. I "had" made a killing in the stock market. Unemployment was extremely low.
But the Prez made a bad choice and dropped his "guard" and therefore everything else is unimportant.

It was a total nightmare under that clown.

"W" is infallible because he didn't "stray" from his duties and all is well with the world.

We are SOOOOO much better off now than we were under that clown.

I'm scared.

I get why Obama supporters feel the urge to come on the thread and be defensive, but to turn it into a Bush bashing thread is ignoring the fact that not everyone who is against Obama, or in favor of McCain, are/were supporters of Bush.

Probably because it's hard to imagine why you would support McCain, who is bascially Bush light, if you weren't a supporter of Bush.
I feel a vote for McCain is a vote for four more years of what we have right now.

Not bashing in my opinion, that's just what I believe.

Also, you means general you, not you personally.

you, you, you, say it enough and it sounds weird.

I think the Bush-bashing started only after the Clinton-bashing started and not because people are trying to defend Obama. It was the Canusa Family's Clinton-bashing post that started that off.

And, in step with your post, Swedish Meatball, why does EVERY Obama thread get pulled back to a Clinton bashfest?

I don't agree with that analysis at all, but it's been discussed ad nauseam. It still ignores the fact that there are Independents who don't agree with Obama. I think LukenDC gave good examples, and while he probably won't vote for either Obama or McCain, his reasons for not supporting Obama are similar to many conservatives.

My apologies it's been discussed ad nauseam, why don't we talk about Obama and the 57 states one more time then?

I ignored nothing. You asked a question and I gave an answer.

I don't care about it turning in to a Bush bashing thread, but just reminding people that it detracts from those who do not support Obama while also not supporting Bush. Not everyone who is an Obama supporter was a Clinton supporter.

What question did I ask you??

I just don't see people trying to draw the parallels between Obama and Clinton that some try to do between McCain and Bush. It's fine to do that, but I just don't think it should be assumed that to support one means support of the other. I know why a lib wouldn't see the differences as starkly as a conservative would, but I just know how I feel.

I can't stand Bush; I can't stand Obama; I'm not too happy with McCain either. I guess I can't post anywhere anymore. ;)

Your post asked for an answer, even if it was written as a statement.

Or were you just putting it out there and didn't want to discuss it?

Nope, I was simply making an observation. I don't care that you replied and want to discuss it, but I wasn't asking a question.

Well that's the point I was trying to make. If you were to pipe in on this thread, similar to the way LukenDC did, with reasons you would not support Obama, then I don't think you need to be lumped in with those who are conservatives/racists in the eyes of some of the OS.

Op,

I agree with all you have written about. I didnt know about the declined Credit Card story, but surley he should have had more than one CC and a Debit card also. That is a bizarre story.

I am not "Scared" of Obama becoming President, more HIGHLY CONCERNED. Honestly I dont think he is experienced to be County Dog Catcher, so forget the whole president thing. And there are hundreds of more reason why I will not vote for him. But as always my big reason is..Where are all the Chicagoians from Obamas past that he helped thru his politics and policy. The people that Obama has helped in the past have been deafening quiet throughout his campaign. Where are his friends? former schoolmates? Co-Workers...anybody?????:confused3 All we know about Obama is what Obama himself has told us about him. As I mentioned a few times on this board, this man comes to the job interview and offers no References on a very light weight resume.
And the people that we know that Obama has closely associated with in the past are not 'upstanding Americans" by any degree.

This Board and anyone who knows me knows that I am no fan of W's Admin, so just them leaving office is "Change" enough for me.:thumbsup2

But more than anything, at this juncture in our country we cannot afford the 'Unknown", IMO that has been part of the problem for the past 7 years. We really NEED TO KNOW JUST WHO OUR PRESIDENT IS. I dont want anymore " gotchas", "suprises", "who knew's", and "you got to be flippen kidden me's" in the next 4 years.
