Please PM me if you see mutliple posts by me on this...having issues posting this morning!!!

Yep - last movie I saw in a theater was Harry Potter and the POA.
I was due for a flick.

Saw Wedding Crashers with my friend - sooooo freakin' funny. ("Here's a peek at your future marriage with Ike Turner"! LMAO!!)

Anywho - it was great...except for the dummies behind me that brought their 4 year old daughter with them.

She ran around the aisle behind my friend and I, pulled my friend's hair, and basically screamed/babbled through the whole movie.

now - the theater was DEAD (MAYBE 20 people in it)...this family could have sat on the opposite side of the theater and bothered less people...but no - they sat behind everyone.

About 35 minutes into the movie...they finally left (after all the ****ie shots. hehehe). They did whisper "sorry" as they left...and I appreciate it.

But what a way to ruin your night! (meaning - the parents night!) I'm sorry - but get a sitter if you really want to see a movie...don't expect your child to sit through an R rated film and not cause a racous.*

*I'm not intentionally demeaning the people here that have perfect children that sit through movies...some kids handle movies well...some don't.

Even perfect children do not belong in r-rated movies... Those should be kid-free. For everyone's sake.

eta: Now if the teens had just been quiet during Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!

I had a knock down drag out with some woman in the Wedding Crashers. She had her kid in there, he was about 10. I mean, I'm a pretty easy going Mom, but that movie was wildly inappropriate for any kid under 17, and even that is pushing it.

Anyway, she sat there, talking LOUDLY to her kid, throughout the first ten minutes of the movie. I finally turned around and asked her politely to be quiet since we could not hear the movie. Her response? "FU B, turn around and shut up if you want to hear the movie!" :earseek: DH just braced himself, because he knows me and knows I'm not the type to take such a thing lightly. I stood up, got two inches from her face, and told her, "NO, YOU **** B, so we can ALL hear the movie!!". The people in front of me started clapping and saying "yeah!". She shut up after that. When the lights came on she could never look at me, and the poor kid seemed so embarrassed to have a mother who would behave like that. Not to mention I can only imagine what was going through his mind during the dinner table scene and the scene where VV was tied up, but I sure as heck wouldn't want my kid to be thinking about such things at 10.

big fat honkin' ditto!
We just "clucked" and "sighed" loudly to get our point across.

I like your approach better!

I can't belive the theater would even let a 10 year old in there (even with his mother)...that movie was NOT appropriate for kids.

LOL! DH was dying, but then again, he has been married to me for 19 years. :rotfl:

The thing is, the woman I'm sure goes around and talks like this to people all the time, never expecting anyone to stand up to her. She looked SHOCKED when I got up in her face, almost made me feel a bit bad afterwards. :p At least for kid, anyway.

I tend to have a big mouth at movies as well. Joe isn't a huge fan of the horror genre so I usually end up going to those flicks alone. Love going to movies solo!

Anyway, I went to see the Texas Chainsaw remake and the theater was relatively crowded. A group of high school girls came in and sat behind me. No big, right? But the moment the previews started (of course, previews of upcoming scary movies), they immediately started squealing and giggling and saying, "I'm so scared." "Hold my hand." "I wanna sit next to (name), she's not scared." It was mildly amusing since it wasn't the feature and only previews.

I assumed they'd shut their mouths once the movie started but NOOOOOOoooo. They got even worse with the giggly, "I'm scared" nonsense. After about 10-15 minutes of this, apparently the rest of the audience kept shushing them and muttering that they should shut up. Girlie girls totally ignored everyone and kept it up. I had enough, stood up, leaned over them and said, "You ladies gonna do this the whole movie? If so, gimme ten bucks NOW so I can come back later." I was fairly loud, they got sheepish and said, "Sorry sir."

They shut up after that, not a single peep except for the obligatory squeels and screams at the BOO parts.

Still can't believe they called me "sir" though. Yeesh.

I absolutely hate people sitting behind me in the theater. This is the reason why I always sit in the back row. Noone behind me talking, noone to kick my seat. And in the times where I had a loud talker around me, I will say something to them. I didn't pay my 8.50 to listen to them have a conversation about something incredibly stupid that can wait until after the show.

OH! I know what you mean! The last time we were at the movie theater - a RARE time with just DH and I - our first real movie in years without DD - we went to see Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in Mr and Mrs Smith - (yes, they were HOT)
Not very many people there - probably around 25 to 30, if that many and right in the middle this freaking baby starts having a FIT! The mother starts walking the baby around the theater to calm the baby down, rather than going out into the lobby area. I was so mad. WHO brings a baby to the movies? Have some respect for the other people PAYING to see the movie.

Took DS8 to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. After we sat down, these two moms come in w/their children. They each had a very small baby (maybe 3 mos old), two who were around 3 and one who was about 5. Both babies cried throughout the movie, one lost his binkie and the woman comes into our row w/her flashlight looking for it. I was so mad. I complained to the manager but the manager was all of 22 and didn't care.

Now, honestly ... I know some babies sleep through movies. When DS was about 1 month old, I took him to see a matinee in the middle of winter (all but 3 people in the theatre), made sure the movie time coincided w/his nap time, sat in the back where I could make a speedy exit if necessary ... and he slept through the whole movie. However, if he even started to whimper, I would have hightailed it right out of that theatre.

I suppose bringing your babies (who get in for free) to the movies is cheaper than paying a babysitter. But, still ... be considerate. I know it's a kids film, but I don't want to hear your baby cry through it.

Allright, now I want to go to the movies with both Snoopy and Rick!! :teeth:

This would be my DD and her friends. I will no longer let her go to the movies with her friends now. I had the experience of being in the theater behind them and saw all the commotion.

Ohhhhhhhhh nothing like being busted by your mom for acting like a goofball.

DH and I go to the earliest movie we can on Sunday. Usually it's us an about 4 other heathens in the theater.

The worst part was that they KNEW I was there!

We went to see "The Grudge". You would have thought that they were in the movie itself. The blood-curling screams coming from these girls was incredible. I was about 10 rows back from them and I was mortified. One or two 'adults' in the the movie told them to ****. I was astounded that an adult would say this to 13 year old girls, but I can't say I blamed him. DD no longer goes with a "group" anymore. We tried it a few times and they just can't stop the screaming. What *is* it with teenage girls?

Christine, my friend, I SALUTE YOU! :cheer2:

to quote the teenage girl that wouldn't move from in front of an automatic door and glared at me when the door hit her...

"Like...what is your *bleeping* problem? Can't you see me here?"

I'm sorry...it's an AUTOMATIC DOOR...I didn't even to THROUGH the door...it just opened on it's own.

I don't know what irks me more...parents that bring young kids to R rated films...or mall rats. heheheh

I can go to the movies with my friends, but all of my friends know better. We don't scream...it's just rude! Common courtesy is the RULE, not the suggestion.

The one time I did go with some very immature friends, we saw Along Came Polly. They started a popcorn fight! I couldn't believe it...she's fourteen and having a popcorn fight! My three year old cousin knows better...
