A mate of mine has just got back why he went I don’t know first he went o NYC that he said was not too bad then Vagas which was terrible l for kids says could not take them anywhere Then orlando. Before he went he asked me to recommend a few places to eat I came up with hard rock as he had a ticket for IOA on an old pass left and to have the BBQ pulled pig sandwich also the outback and make sure you get the blooming onion for starter, go to Tony rommas on a Monday night for all you can eat ribs special and try the earl of sandwich and gardilaes at downtown Disney. Well he said he took one look at the restaurants we suggested and thought they were too dear so he decided to eat at western sizzlers instead he forgot to take ticket for IOA (yea right) so couldn’t eat at hard rock he went to downtown Disney but just walked through shops. Said that he just spent most of the time in villa (would get up most days 10 or 11) and went on how much he didn’t spend .I think you work to enjoy yourself on holiday what’s the point of him going Florida if he was going to do nothing should of gone to Spain

it takes all sorts mate, I know what you mean though. We went to Tunisia last year and we have 3 kids 1 is 8 1 is 5 and 1 is 1, we had a great time visiting local haunts and haggling, real friendsly place, tried all the local foods, some good some not so, but got home feeling like we had visited another part of the world.

We were lying in bed the one morning about 7:30 just waking up (the little fella still wakes in the night), outside in the corridor i could here this english woman, saying "Theres hardly any English here, The sausage is not the same and the english papers are 3 days late!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I have a cousin aged about 30, they went her and her husband and 2 kids went to Florida in 2003, she never had any hols as a kid, parents never got any money, usual tale. Anyway, they save up and get to Florida, villa for 2 weeks in Orlando with a car. She fones her mom 4 days after they got there and said oh its nice, we have spent most of the time in the villa!!!!!!!!!!!

Give me strength

Steve

No offense to your friend but that's a long way to go just to do nothing. Better off in Benidorm or Lanzarote (no offense intended to people who like these places).

I really splash out when I go on holiday. Life is short, and I work hard so I can have fun and indulge!

Can you check with your mate about Las Vegas. We are taking our 12 year old DD there for 6 days next May. We took her when she was 6 in 1999 and it was fine. We have read since then that it has gone down hill as far as children are concerned :sad2:

Can you find out what the main problem was?

Many thanks

Susan

Susan,

I have heard they have gone away from being a family destination now to going back to how LV was originally (eg ladies of the night openly advertising wares)

Hope that is cryptic enough, LOL

LV is somewhere I really want to go but can't consider for the moment as my DDs are 5 & 8.

Some people :sad2:

Might as well saved himself a bit of money and gone to spain(i'm sure spain is very nice though)

My dad came with us on our last trip and when we got home he said "you spent money like confetti in wdw" Of course we did,we are in wdw after all and thats what having a holiday's all about. Its the only time in the year where we don't need to watch what we spend.

Hello,

Not sure about Spain, Your mate might aswell have stayed at home & sat out in the garden!

we are hoping to go to Mamma Mia. I just assumed they would let under 21 year olds to the shows. Our 12 year old will be too old to go to the kids club but I do not want to leave her in the room by herself while we watch a show.

I will need to check this out or will have to pull out. It is my friends 40th birthday and has been arranged since her 30th in Dominican Republic.

Reminds me a little of a London couple and 2 kids I met in the Hotel Landry area
They ahd no idea on anything hardly They done NO research at all,They didnt even know Universal studios existed,They been their 5 days and spent one day at Seaworld?!
He asked me Is The Magical Kingdom worth a visit? (Yes he kept calling it that!) They were clueless Disney had 3 other parks,
They were paying park admission for a days entry at a time,An expensive way of doing it,Its a shame theres so much they were obviously going to miss out on
You dont have to go mad on the planning but They didnt even know the basics.

Mamma Mia is great for your 12yr. I was there in October2004 and yes there are places I would not take a young adult. The vegas strip has outside shows and shopping ,never did I see anything not correct during the day. Even touring the resorts everything was ok. Freemont Steet was fun also. Have a great time.
