Why don't you use a Travel Agency for booking your WDW vacation?

Why don't you use a TA to book your WDW trip?

  • Like to have direct control of my reservation

  • Bad past experience with a TA

  • Can do it cheaper on my own

  • All of the above

  • Other (please explain)

The very first trip I used a TA because I didn't know a better. However after our first trip, I felt that my wife and I could manage all of it ourselves. So for the next few trips we did our own reservations, air, towncar pickup, resort, and PS's. We even helped several other families plan their trips. Then we bought into BoardWalk DVC in 98. A hugh part of planning/cost was just elimated for us.

Last year we went in May. We got quotes from two TA & our prices were still better. We also enjoy doing the research.

I have two reasons but could only choose one option. I like having direct control over my reservation and I can do it cheaper on my own. Another reason is that I'm a weirdo and actually enjoy calling WDW! Even sitting on hold doesn't bother me because I get to listen to Disney tunes. More than once I've been caught humming when the CM came on the line.:lmao:

I've always enjoyed doing the researching and booking myself, but read about the convenience of using a TA. I booked last year's trip through one because of this, but after my second phone call regarding dining ADR's, she suggested I call Disney directly and book them myself, as she was busy. I was OK with doing that, but think I'll not go the travel agent route again because I felt that we lost control of certain aspects of the vacation, and did not save any time or trouble. Disney's website is certainly user-friendly enough, and the phone CM's are generally very pleasant and helpful.

I think planning helps me anticipate it more. Plus, I think I can can control certain aspects better - like changing an ADR. The more people involved, the more likely there is to be a mistake.

I voted for All of the above.

While I hae never actually booked with a TA, I have had a few of them price trips for me. And it always seems I can do it cheaper & better by myself.

Plus I like having control over my trip. I dont want to leave my magic in other peoples' hands. And if I want to change something, add something, check on something, whatever, I like being able to call Disney & do it myself.

I can always plan it better & cheaper then a TA.

And besides, planning it, is half the fun for me.

Traveling on a busy Spring Break '06 week, I started out on planning on my own. Only to find that calling Disney direct, I could not get a moderate resort with 2 beds. Only king-bed rooms were left.

So, going through a TA and American Express Travel (who had a block of rooms), I was able to get my moderate resort with 2 beds.

half the fun on my trip planning is planning the trip, getting good deals, making all the arrangements, i live for it.

Based on your (and other) response(s), I suppose I should have added another choice to the poll...

i.e., choice f: "I enjoy the trip planning process"

Never thought I would :confused3 , but this has been the case for me as well.
