Although I have seriously considered it a few times... dh reminds me of the reasons we don't become DVC members:
As former timeshare owners (we had a floating week, so it's a bit different, I know) we had a 2 bedroom unit and exclusively used it for RCI exchanges around the country. Some resorts were awesome, some just good. Exchanging is not as easy as they make it out to be, you have to be REALLY flexible about your dates or places and sometimes even both!
Fees and assessments. They do go up and it's annoying!
Discounts are too good, free dining, room only discounts, etc.
I like to stay somewhere different everytime, and I plan WAAAAY ahead. the 7month window for booking outside your home resort would give me agita!!
We are fortunate to have a second home at the beach to support.

I am lucky to be able to go to Disney as often as we do.
I used to joke if we won the lottery we could join DVC, but if that happened and it was in the millions, we would just buy a house at Disney in the Golden Oaks
