Why does life keep happening to me!!!!

So since June, DH and I have put $400 a month in our savings account on which to go to Disney in september.....15 days away!!! Well now we have NO money in savings cause these LIFE things keep coming up. UGH!!! We leave on September 11th and have no money in our savings to go. He gets paid on the 2nd of September and once again when we are at Disney, but still.....Just makes me mad. We should have $1200 in savings right now....we have ZERO!!! BLAH!! Ok, Im sorry just had to vent. Please dont flame for this.....its not cause we spend wildly, just things happen.

It's OK. Everything will be OK! Life happens to all of us and sometimes we have to compromise and do/pay for what needs to be paid for and not what we want to do/pay for. If you have to cancel this trip, it will be a disappointment but it is far from the end of the world. These are tough times and we all have to make some tough choices. I do hope that you can work things out so you can go in 15 days, but if not, you can postpone the trip and take it when you have saved up the money. WDW isn't going anywhere. It will be there when you are ready.

I have no words of wisdom for you other than I feel your pain. Same with us 2 steps forward 10 steps back. We either need tires or the washer breaks or whatever. You're not alone. If you go make the best of it. Hang in there.

I know how you feel. Our Hotwater heater went out and we had to replace after numerous tries to fix. My hubby's hours got cut from 40 to 32 for a few weeks and we have had a hard time catching back up. We had savings set aside for WDW but had to use it for bills. However that being said I had been paying oop for health co-pays, eyeglasses and etc. and this week turned in my receipts to get reimbursed from my non-taxable plan to the tune of $1400 plus my DH is now getting some OT and we should have some of that to take with us plus grocery money for the week we are there. So we should be ok. I have already done my mousekeeping envelopes and stuffed with tips for each day and I have also done some gratutity envelopes and set aside cash for that for each TS we have. (might add to them based on service). We also leave on Sept 11th. It is so close. Have fun. We plan to.

Well, Just found out One more LIFE thing!!! My truck, my only means of transportation, needs new front brakes and rotors!!!! To the tune of $150!!!! UGH!!! Will it ever end????

I know how you feel. I had a good amount saved up when my car blew the head gasket. There went $1000.

Even if you have to cancel your trip, you will be ok. I am sorry this is happening to you but the great thing about WDW is there is always next year. Hope you can work something out.

At least you have had money to cover the things that keep coming up. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there wondering how they are going to pay their mortgage that would love to be taking a trip to DW without the spending money. Look on the bright side--being broke in DW is better than having $100 and not being in DW.

Know exactly how it's going as well. Feel the same way. Currently trying to budget here like nothing else. I'm trying to pay off the holiday as much as possible here, but things constantly come up.

I am sorry...we get those surprises from time to time also...maybe you should cancel and go another time? I think in these hard times you need to make sure to have a savings, wdw will still be there when you can afford to go AND have a back up savings.maybe you can spend less on food since you have ddp.I think you can spend less on food while driving...mickey d has a great $1.00 menu...we have a family of 5 and can eat off of it for less then 20.00.o remember the tips you have to add to the ts meals on the ddp,those can add up.
I know it is not the "thing" here to tell people the truth and say maybe they should not go right now but wouldnt you have more fun when you can save up the money to do ALL those things you want to do.I always think it is a shame when I see these threads and so many peole just say "yeh yeh go and have fun,everyone should go to wdw" when I know I would not have fun knowing I had all these bills to pay I DO understand money being tight and life happens but you have to tuff it out and you will come out on top. I can tell your bummed about not having ANY money in savings,would you reall feel good about it after your home and the money you do have is gone?I do not know about all your money stuff only what you put out there so this is just based on what I have read.good luck for whatever you end up doing.

I feel your pain. With 4 kids it seems our budget is always hitting a bump in the road. For example just yesterday I had to take my 6yo to the dermatologist because she has developed a rash head to toe. $25 copay, $20 special lotion, $10 another lotion, $30 prescription (and that's with insurance). This is a constant in our house it seems.

have a yard sale... seriously, I made over $400.00 purging my closets and attic of stuff. I priced it really cheap, $1 $2 etc.. books (old paperbacks) .50 or 3 for $1 so forth and so on, maybe some neighbors or family members will get involved or donate to your cause (my mom was none too happy to have me get rid of all of her junk for her) I had mine over 2 weekends, and people came back!!! Yardsalers are looking for a great bargain, and some are just so thrilled to be able to say "i got that bowl for $1 " I even sold my kids clothes I would give a paper bag and say $1 an item or fill the bag for $15...
I hate when I go to a yard sale and people want top dollar for items that they ARE NEVER GONNA USE AGAIN... I say if I get a dollar for it, good riddance. (I know I may have paid more for it/it might be worth more, but it's not making me ANY oney just laying around)

We leave the 12th and something like this happened to DH's truck except ours was a little moreand cost $350 of our spending money, so yes I feel your pain!

Brake pads aren't hard-- DH taught himself to do it! (and yes, properly!) It cost us $29 for the pads for the front. It took him probably 35 or so minutes. If your DH is handy, have him try it. I'll never ever pay for brakes again! When our rotors go bad, we're going to do those too.

Go to Disney, life will be there when you get back belive me I know. You see 2 years ago my husband was very determined on taking our 2 kids who had never been they were (15,13) at the time little did we know that life would not be the same when we got back. We had the best time as a family for that week I would not trade it for anything.
