Why does Grand Floridian usually have decent availability?

I think it is probably true that many are not staying there because of construction/lack of gingerbread at Christmas, but honestly it’s probably a great year to stay there because you will have less people from outside coming to visit.
Having stayed there just recently, I can state anecdotally that the passers-through still visit the lobby. Not everyone is doing a deep dive in their Disney Research.

Both are often very spotty if not gone by the 7 month window - at least, the resort views of each. I'm not sure which goes first during the owner's priority window, my guess is probably the deluxe studios chiefly because there are fewer of them.

Having stayed in both I like the VGF building better but the BPK studios are overall better rooms.

Deluxe go faster than resort…but there are a lot more resort ones.

Certainly times they are all gone quickly!

Was just there to shop and I agree.,,still busy!

Would I be correct in saying that June is pretty easy to find for a 2BR villa at 7 months? I ask because I've looked at the availability tool and watched some YouTube videos and they seem to indicate as such.

We've a fairly small DVC point couple so we always try for the lower point value studios for longer vacations. Places like the GF, Rivera and Poly are places we book for that pre-cruise night. We get to experience it with a very slight point splurge.

Maybe us VGF owners just have had other plans? We haven't been there since last Christmas. We went to DLP in March/April, and then visited PIT and BLT for our summer trips because well, they were new or remodeled and wanted to try-before-buying PIT. Next week we'll be mostly at BWV because of its proximity to the park for Moonlight Magic. Going on the Destiny this holiday season, and then planning to go back to our VGF home sometime next year. We love VGF, and I was thinking just yesterday how I missed it. I never would have thought I'd go over a year without staying there, but there just has been so much going on! Has nothing to do with the point charts for us - We knew what they were when we bought in. Another family we know that also owns there has had a similar experience this year.
