Why does everyone hate sci fi?

We eaten full meals there but last time we just went for dessert. That was a couple trips ago. Love the atmosphere.

A side note for the person with the paper/plastic on her burger...could it have been the dividers they use to keep frozen burgers from sticking together before they are cooked?

No, it was a piece of plastic, sort of like bubble wrap, or the hard piece when plastic is melted together. I always thought it was probably part of a bag that maybe lettuce comes in. But it has very large (about 4x4), so should've been easy to detect. Sadly I bit into it and it pulled out of the burger toppings. It just creeped me out to think where the bag may have been prior, just not very sanitary thoughts would come to mind. I did write to Disney when I got home and really just wanted an apology. Later I realized that the nice thing to do would have been to not charge me for my meal, but they did. I was nice and polite and quiet about the entire event and only my family knew about it. It was very embarrassing.

I dont hate it :sad2:

I just think it get quite old quite soon, 10 minutes after I arrive I want to leave! The onion rings are amazing however!!

We have eaten at Sci fi lots of times and always enjoyed our food. Is it the best at WDW, of course not. The food is standard fare for the type of restaurant that it is. Just go and enjoy.

We like the burgers and the fun atmosphere. Even though we are doing the DDP, we will pay OOP for lunch there. Burgers are big and we can split them along with fries and a malt, making it not so bad for our family.

We love Sci-Fi, and hit it up for a lunch on pretty much every trip. The food isn't earth-shattering, but the atmosphere is great and, for lunch, it is the perfect escape from the mid-day sunshine. :thumbsup2

Is the food that bad? we have a adr there, never been.. but I kep reading bad review after another. is it really that bad? Does anyone actually like it?

This is one of those restaruants that people seem to either love or hate. We love it and usually eat lunch there at least once each trip. I love their onion rings and grilled chicken sandwich. Dh loves their burgers and the kids love the burgers and hot dogs. Their Oreo milkshake is also pretty darn tasty! My kids absolutely love sitting in the cars and the B rated sci-fi movies.

Just like 50s PTC, I think everyone should try Sci-Fi at least once. But unlike 50s PTC we'll continue going back to Sci-Fi. :)

The food is not good, the seating is awkward as you can not talk with your family, the movies are old and lame...cute idea, not so good experience! If you do it once that id enough...now 50's prime time is fun!

we love it too! DD LOVED the milkshakes! we are going back in April! loved the cars and watching the old movies.

That was my problem. The only reason why we're trying Cape May for dinner this time for our DHS day is the fact that the movie clips got on my nerves after a while.

Oh yea, like other places, there are some cool hidden mickey's in sci-fi....

What did you order, and was it lunch or dinner? I dont know if I'd do dinner, and if you venture away from the basics, as stated a lot here, you do start to see more negatives...

The seating is supposed to be like a drive in.. You cant talk easily in a drive in either!

Of course the movies are old.. so are the cars..

:confused3

It use to be a must do every trip until about 5 years ago I think. They changed there menu and we wern't happy with dinner. It's good for burgers/shakes.

when we went last year, it was sooooooooo crowded, DH and I sat at one of those little tables in the back with the faux umbrella. The food was not very very memorable, but the atmosphere would have me going back. Next time I want to sit in the :car:

Preferably the drivers seat!!!!

If you find foreign material in your food, the best way to handle that is bring it to the attention of the restaurant while you're still in the restaurant (which the poster did). If your server shrugs it off, ask for a manager. This sort of thing shouldn't happen in any restaurant.

I want my kids to be able to sit in the cars. If they try to give us a regular table, I will wait for a car. I would think since it is Disney they would be happy to accomodate. I will ask that they put the highchair on the end of the table like pp suggested. I still need to call and add the highchair to my reservation.

I don't hate it but with us being on the DDP, it's not worth wasting a TS credit on. If we go again, we'll pay OOP for it.

We went one time and found the food to be just ok. The setting was neat to see. The last trip we went just for milkshakes and they were ok but nothing like a true chocolate milkshake. Was more like vanilla with chocolate syrup. The setting with the cars and movie is fun to see but the food is nothing to write home about. We won't be back.

You must not have tried this:
