Why do you need a "Lysol Soap Pump System?!"

Think about it. The commercial is all about how germ-y the soap pump gets with all those dirty hands touching it. But the point of a soap pump is that you will presumably follow up touching it by washing your hands which will then be clean.

Of all the things you could worry about touching that just might have germs on them, why would a soap pump be of concern?

Well... Okay, fair question. This product just struck me as particularly inane and useless.

I'm glad that I am not the only person who has realized this. DH and I were talking about that just last night after seeing the commercial. My opinion is that they're hoping to tap into the germ phobia that so many Americans have bought into. Sadly, it will probably work.

So, these are marketed to us for HOME use, right?

Until we ALL have automatic faucets, these are 100%, completely useless.

You use the bathroom, turn the faucet on with your dirty hands, use the touchless and sanitary soap pump, and then turn the dirty faucet off with your clean hands.

Maybe you'll even dry your hands on some dirty hand towel.

But for sure, you'll open the dirty door handle on your way out, so I guess we need Star Trek automatic doors, too.

Brookstone makes a very similar product - I have it and like it.

AKL_Megs, you bring up a very good point. When I come home from outside, I turn the faucet on with the top of my hand (I have the faucet that looks like a lever). And if I have a "clean" hand available anytime I need to wash my hands, I use the "clean" hand to turn on the faucet.

I can see where it might come in handy in the kitchen. I know that after cutting up chicken or meat, I will use my arm to turn on the kitchen faucet to rinse and then apply the soap. The thought of using hands that just cut up chicken to dispense soap, does skeeve me out and no I am not germ phobic.

Only thing I can think of is it makes one less thing to clean. I clean off the soap pump & bottle because it drips & runs down the sides & onto the counter. So I guess if no one touched the pump, it would stay cleaner & the area under it too? That's my guess, but I still don't NEED one.

Automatic everything would be nice though.

Why would you want to use logic to disrupt the marketing of unnecessary products to the illogical masses?

I loved mine too (until it stopped working). It saved me a ton of messes because the kids were no longer over pumping soap and getting it all over the sink.

My kids think it takes moresoap, tooth paste and toilet paper than necessary to perform three basic tasks Im all for nifty contraptions to rein in their messes because simple logic does not seem to process between their sweet, cute little ears

This product reminds me of that toothpaste dispenser - the one that squeezes the tube for you so you have one less mess to clean up - um yeah but then I have to clean the dispenser, which looks way more complicated to clean than the counter.

I think I'll just go right on being germy and messy - it's healthier.

This statement sounds sooooo wrong- but you are RIGHT!!! My daughters Dr. told me that having germs is what makes our immune systems function properly- I'm not going to go out and buy another product that is focused on 'antibacterial' products that actually do more HARM than good!

I want one of those new kitchen faucets that you touch with your wrist or back of hand to turn on. Seen commercials for them on TV. Then I will buy the handless soap pump system.

the commercial that grosses me out is the worthless toothpaste dispenser. It is supposed to be germ free , by sticking your "dirty" toothbrush into the dispenser and pushing a button and it squirts out the toothpaste for you!! EWWW! You still have germs!!!
