Why Do They Keep Asking

why do people keep asking if they can order a meal or entree at a specific location?, Is there a meal (entree) somewhere you can't get on the DDP that takes the DDP, I don't know of one : I know alcoholoic drinks and some side choices. But I keep reading people asking about entrees at locations they are wondering If its allowed to get on the DDP. I have done the DDP 3 years and have never been told anywhere that I could not get something (entree) at a CS or TS or S.

There are 2 that come to mind, and one of them isn't even an option anymore. The first was the family abbondanza at tutto italia, but it isn't on the menu anymore ,and the second is the "french Menu" at Les Chefs and that is not allowed on the basic ddp because of the appetizer.

They ask because people don't have the level of experience with the dining plan that others do.

These items were not entrees but price fixed three course meals made up of items that were already on the regular menu, offered at a bit of a price discount for ordering them as a fixed price meal. They were irrelevant to the dining plan, seeing as price is not a consideration for dining plan users, but some thought they may be able to order a fixed-price meal including an appetizer on the basic dining plan, which excludes appetizers.

Most restaurants exclude the fixed-price menus from the dining plan. This makes sense because basic dining doesn't include the appetizer, and dining plan users could pick the same entree and dessert off the regular menu anyway. Marrakesh apparently allows ordering price-fixed set menu meals on basic dining, but with an upcharge. Le Cellier was reported to be experimenting at certain meals with a price-fixed menu that did allow an appetizer with the basic dining.

On the other hand, there are some posters who just want to make sure that expensive entrees (like Narcoosee's lobster) are covered by the dining plan.

Most of these questions could be answered by simply reading the Stickies at the top of the forum and reading the official brochures. That's why they're there!

I'm sure some folks don't notice the Stickies, but I suspect others are just lazy and want to be spoon-fed. It's easier to ask a question and get questionable advice than it is to read the official stuff yourself.

And some people just want to be sure they have a handle on things. Disney makes a lot of rules for things like this. And some people don't have any extra income to spend on a "mistake" b/c they ordered something that isn't covered. When you call to make ressies ask if its on the DP & when you order ask your waiter if anything isn't on the plan (before they put the ticket in). Ask away, that's what we are here for.

Amusingly enough, any combination of things ordered off of Tutto Italia's fixed price menu would have been less expensive per person if ordered a la carte than as the family style meal. (Remember: the antipasti was for two.)

Sometimes (not always) advice based on experience is more accurate or informative than the "official stuff."

Who cares if they ask a question??!!
OMG, if the question doesn't apply to you then move on and don't reply to it.
:rotfl: Get over it!

I thought the DisBoards were here for educating ourselves about vacationing at WDW?????? How are people going to get anwers if they do not ask questions?????? Please OP feel free to ask as many questions as you want.

Anyways......basically, from my experience...just about everything on the TS menus is available. I did hear awhile back that a few choice items...like a sushi platter at CG or cheese platter at AP. Most people are just asking to familiarize themselves with the menu options, so they can decide on their ADRs.

For myself personally I haven't been to Disney in YEARS and although I read things sometimes I have questions and it would be easier to ask here than to just wonder if I've got things right or not. I've NEVER done the dining plan so I have alot of questions about it...not about which entree to get right now but maybe that will come later :rotfl: In any case I really have enjoyed joining this board because it has given me a wealth of knowledge I didn't have before coming and will I hope prepare me much better for our trip in January. But as with any forum if I don't know the answer and/or it doesn't apply to me then I usually just skip it and not give it another thought.

Some people want experience-based comments and not know-it-all remarks. ;)

We have been going to WDW for years with a few recent ones with the Dining Plan. The last one, a few weeks ago, was a Deluxe plan. There's not enough information out there(the board) that will prepare you to the tee. You have to be there to fully grasp the in's and out's, really! We made all our ADR's months ahead of our July trip. Studied the menu's a bit, but knew the offerings could changed once we get there. TRUE. A few restaurants' menu did changed. NO big deal. All of our dinners were still wonderful.

I was one of those who asked these kind of questions last year. January was our first go at the DDP. It can be overwhelming, it was easier for me to ask my questions in my own words, then to process all of the info in the stickies sometimes. I did read them and still do, but getting an answer for your question is really helpful. I am in debt to those that took the time to respond, I really appreciated it. I now try to pass on what little Disney knowledge I now have to those who feel the need to ask. :)

Yippie you'll be there in 2009. Me too. But we'll be there on the other end of the year Dec. Are you doing the DP? QS or TS? I'm still trying to deicde what is going to be cheaper & will still allow us to do everything we want while we're there.

I new some poeple wouldn't understand my question and would be mad or get defensiveor whateverish. Its just a question and I wasn't mad at anyone. but thankyou for getting emotional about it. The reason for the start of this is because of the large amounts of threads to which people have asked is this entree covered,( I understand snacks, drinks , anything other than an entree) and I have never seen one that says its not. now one person said that people are lazy and don't want to read stickys or the 1000 other threads and such, that might be true. But what gets me is alot of the things people ask "is this covered" are being taken off menus. steaks crab legs filets and others! I wish someone would ask about places and food we don't like to see if they would take those off the menu... someone said that people wanted to make sure the more expensive items are included in the ddp... well they are as long as they are printed on the menus.

I have asked about one entree before and only seen one answer (two as of today.) It was for the : Taste of Morocco ; Marrakesh Royal Feast - Harira soup, Beef Brewat Rolls, Lemon Chicken, Roasted Lamb Meshoui, Couscous with Seven Vegetables, and Assorted Moroccan pastries $41.95 per person
All of one person answered and said it was fine. Now, reading this thread I see someone say there might be an upcharge for it.

Not a problem, but I believe people ask because they don't know (duh) or because they are in disbelief that a $58 surf and turf entree is really allowed on the ddp (yeah, it's two credits, but still disbelief).

Additionally an entree I thought was covered at Morocco may also incur an upcharge: Night in Casablanca - Roast Lamb Meshoui, Chicken Kebab, and Seafood Bastilla and vegetable couscous $35.95 (I only found that because I did a search for Marrakesh a few seconds ago.)

I'll post in 2 weeks and let you know about the upcharges here, hopefully it will help someone else in the future.

With the 2008 version of Disney Dining Plan change from 2007:
2007 basic DP included appetizer vs 2008 basic DP without appetizer
We opted for the Deluxe Plan this year because of this change. Back to the OP, I guess people with DP should have more problem identifying what's consider as a snack credit rather that what's not cover as a DP entree. JMO

Have had the Night in Casablanca for the past two years, no surcharge. Very very few things are not included in the plan. Those are mainly the Packages (complete meals for two, for example). Now at the Marrakesh, the normal plan dessert is the sampler platter. This is what iwas brought out, I commented to the waiter that I really had wanted to try the mint ice cream. He bought me out a bowl and did not charge me. Always ask. The worst that can happen is that they say no.
