OMG, my DH is like this (parks the furthest he can from the store entrance and then sometimes will park "crooked" taking up two parking spaces)
DRIVES ME NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every single time I ask him, "what are you doing?" He says, "I don't need some ******* hitting my truck"
My thoughts are though....if you park like that (like an idiot) than I think it's like asking to get hit. I mean you're sending out this vibe that your truck is better than everyone elses, so if you park like this...everyone will take notice and then make sure they back off. I personally, think just the opposite....when I see a vehicle parked like that, I think to myself...."what a *******, who do they think they are, they're no better than anyone else!!!" I mean, it's not that I would purposely hit/nick/bang up against a car parked like this but I just don't like the fact that people act this way.
Sorry for rambling....it's just a big pet peeve of mine. But maybe in your case, if you're the one that was parked in the middle of nowhere, maybe the two other cars had the same idea as you did???? Maybe they thought..."hey, if he's parked out in the middle of nowhere, I should park next to him and then my car will be safe from any damage"????
Hopefully, nothing happened to your car though...
