Why do the pool bars close so early??

As I was looking around deciding on resorts, I noticed that most pool bars close around 5-6pm. Is that true? It seems so early!! I remember Poly's bar staying open until around 7pm and even that seemed early as it was still packed by the pool, even people dressed up for late night at parks, dinner reservations and then bam, sorry we are closing as every seat at the bar is taken . I am not an alcoholic or anything but it would be nice to sit outside at dusk or so when it isn't a scorching 100 degrees out to get a drink, esp at Poly when the other bar inside by Ohana's is constantly full and it is SO loud in there. Now we are staying at CSR and everywhere I look it is saying the bar closes at 5pm

Do they shut when the life guards finish for the day per chance? Just a thought, perhaps they don't think it's safe or something..

Perhaps it is to preserve a family atmosphere at the pools.

The Poly seems to close around 7pm.

It is by the main pool outside at CBR. The food court is right there also.

I know we have returned to ASMO many times late at night and walked by the pool bar. It's always been hopping then and a few times we have gotten drinks to bring back to the room. They definitely dont close at 5:00-6:00...or at least not when I've been there

I wondered the same thing. We usually end our day in the early evening or late afternoon and think it would be nice to have a drink by the pool (hardly ever drink but like to relax). At AKL we ended up going into the bar by Boma but it was so noisy it wasn't relaxing at all.

I suspect the Value resort pool bars stay open later because the Value Resorts don't have lounges.
