Post in all lower case on message boards?

Just wondering.

I don't have an answer, but I'd rather see all lower case than all upper case.

I AGREE, ALL UPPER CASE DOES TAKE ON A SOMEWHAT HOSTILE IMAGE.

while typing in all lower case makes a post look softer, kind of like a little mouse doing the typing.

But all those years of English 101 make me cringe when I see all lower case!

Maybe their SHIFT key is broken. :p

All lower case or all uppercase does not bother me as much as the alternating case style. ThE aLtErNaTiNg CaSe StYlE jUsT gIvEs Me A hEaDaChE aNd Is AlMoSt ImPoSsIbLe FoR mE tO rEaD.

A friend of mine was telling me that she was not good at typing at all and really can't get the hang of the whole Shift+letter thing (her fingers just didn't do it... you ought to see her try to play piano ;)). She had started typing in all caps for that reason and being dyslexic that is nearly impossible for me to read so she switched to all lowers instead. I don't mind it at all considering the alternative :)

i'm guilty of doing it here. i'm usually in a big hurry since my time is limited and plus i have to do it the right way all day at work. i let myself relax here after keying all day at work.

Only the total UPPER case bothers me. I think I'm in trouble when I see all UPPER case.:o

I dont mind all upper or lower, but I agree with Becka, the mix of the 2 is aggravating.
But who am I to talk? I never use ' where I should. For example I will just type "Im" "its", etc... Im too lazy to put the ' in(see).

BROWNEYES, YOU'RE NOT IN TROUBLE!!!!!!!!!

i never thought of it as being bothersome. :(

i type all lowercase on email/message boards b/c the time i have online is usually while i am multi-tasking and it is quicker. i've been typing lowercase online since i first found the internet. :)

It doesn't bother me really when other people do it, but I could never do it. I have a degree in English, and I can just imagine my professors' reactions. :teeth:

i tend to do all lower case when i am DISing or sending e-mail to friends...it's just easier for me...i admit it...i'm lazy!

I never really paid any attention that the majority of people post in lower case. I try to use appropriate writing skills...I'm still suffering from Eng 101 flashbacks as well.

maybe they're channeling e e cummings?

I find it far less offensive than the al upper case or my personal favorite--all bold type

sometimes I am too lazy to type correctly... :)

i usually use lowercase. i've never liked the look of the capital "I" and have handwritten it in lowercase for years... way before computers were in common use. i've also signed my name in lowercase for over 10 years. for other letters, it's just much quicker. it does have a "soft" look to it too, doesn't it? i didn't know that people left out the apostrophe because of laziness though. i'll leave out commas at times, but not apostrophes. i just thought you all didn't know how to spell! i will only leave out apostrophes when i'm SUPER tired and IMing a friend... nothing public.

when cali is sitting on my lap or walking around the computer, i cannot hit the shift key, therefore, everything is in lower case. she isn't doing it now, i'm at work, but i thought i'd just give an example of it. :p :teeth:
