Why Do Some People Type Like This???

Cause it seems to me like it's an awfully hard way to type???????

It's quite endearing and difficult to type, actually. I do it, only with titles/headlines to bulletins/blogs on Myspace/Facebook. Other than that...it's kinda like 'text/net' speak. Some say it makes it easier.

But, really...

'whn i strt 2 tlk lyke ths, i bgn 2 gt cfsed'.

(When I start to talk like this, I begin to get confused.)

It takes a lot more thought.

You know what is almost even worse long long posts that go on forever and forever without punctuation and no paragraph break of anykind I find those types of posts very hard to read and often I just give up and don't read those and that makes me feel bad because maybe that person could really use a pick me up and I can't possibly get through the entire post because I've been trained to read with punctuation and paragraphs wasn't everyone:rotfl:

SERIOUSLY DIS WON'T LET YOU POST ALL IN CAPS? LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY!

HA! It let me post all in caps!

:rotfl: :rotfl:

...how'boutDis'ersthatneverheardofthespacebar??

i have never noticed posts with no spaces. <--look no caps!

In the early days of e-mail and such it was common not to capitalize anything. So maybe the e e cummings folks are just old.... :p

I noticed that the time I accidently had the cap lock on when I was posting, that the computer/ or the Dis switched it to beginning caps. No clue, why!

We call that "Wall of text". It is nearly impossible to read and understand. I tend to be a use ... as a break which I know is wrong, and I miss capital letters all the time, but usually its only a sentence or two.

ill write like that because im going too fast and not paying attention... but at least i feel bad after im done

The one that really gets me is this..........Why type like this............ Why not just use proper punctuation..........For example, one period to end the sentence.............I just can't read posts like this........I skip right over them......These posts hurt my eyes and brain..........

LOL, I'll take dots over the "wall of text" any day of the week! Love that term!

With The First Letter Of Each Word In Their Sentence Capitalized?

Is It Something They Do On Purpose? Or Can Their Computer Be Set Up To Do That For Them?

Cause it seems to me like it's an awfully hard way to type???????

Because Every Word We Use Is Of Significant Value To warrant It's Own Capital Letter, That's Why!

I don't type my comments like that, but I do make all my titles that way. No clue why, I just like it.

I'm a fan of the capital letter.

I asked your exact question about a year ago. One person suggested that some of the disabilities computers (perhaps voice to text?) will type it that way.

Long posts with no paragraphs, "wall of text"! I love that!:lmao: Can't read it though...:sad2:

My pet peeve is the larger font text with some bright, horrible color lettering. Is that really necessary?

I think in the case of the weird fonts etc. people think they are making their posts stand out. What they don't realize is that it causes many people to just skip them.

I always wonder if the people who type with no caps, no punctuation, no paragraph breaks, etc. ever read all the posts where people say they SKIP those posts because they are too hard to read.:confused3 I certainly understand laziness, but why bother at all if you know no one is going to read your posts?

I use elipses often- and dashes apparently...

Sorry it is an old habit I got from somewhere and it sort of stuck when posting on boards like these

I figure it at least breaks things up a bit

The only pet peeves I have is the walls of text- and the people who never re-read before clicking submit- often a quick read through will reveal problems others would have reading-

I do make typo's from time to time- like the rest of the normal people on the board- and I hate to see when someone harps on obvious typing errors of others- as long as it is legible does it really matter in the scheme of things?

I don't even understand the purpose of capitalizing random letters. ???

Those who don't capitalize at all...I just figure they're dumb. But it isn't that hard to read, like random capitalizing is...ugh.

I know one person who has MS or something like that, and when she has a flare up she can't type capitals. She has a problem with her hands. I always hate reading posts without caps, but when I heard that I felt kind of bad. So I try to be understanding (but it is admittedly hard.)

I find that odd. We had AOL in the "early days" and I always used proper capitalization and punctuation when I type.

There are three types of posts that really bother me:

1.) The posts where each line is it's own sepearate sentence.

A break in line means new paragraph or break in thought.

Do you see how hard it is to maintain a train of thought?

It sort of hurts my brain?

2.) The "wall of texts". What ever happened to normal paragraphs?

3.) Overuse... of ellipses... Ellipses... (ok, I'm stopping that now, I'm driving myself crazy!) Ellipses are traditionally used to show an incomplete thought or a thought that has trailed off. That is how I read it and when you overuse them it makes your post hard to read. I will eventually give up and skip your post because it is hard to follow a train of thought that indicates it keeps trailing off.

I've never seen the first letter capitalized posts either... but I'm SURE it'd drive me crazy, too!

My sister NEVER capitalizes... it drives me insane. It looks like a teenager's writing! I am a fanatic when it comes to grammar, spelling and semantics and the internet is NOT the place for folks like that! ;)

I've read repeatedly that the capitalization thing is a weird joining of the boards and the person's computer, combined with them writing in all caps.

and why do some people type like e.e. cummings?

Caps button not working?

When I used to do that it was b/c I was NAK. In other words, "nursing at keyboard", and was typing with one hand.

I use ellipses often...I write like I talk, and sometimes normal punctuation doesn't "sound" the way I want it to "sound". As long as the reader is "hearing" my post in their head it works, but if they don't hear as they read, it's not going to work well. :confused3

That is a good way to explain it- the elipses and dashes I tend to pepper my posts with- it isn"t even a conscious thing- it just sort of comes out that way.
