Why do smokers......

Why do smokers (the ones that do this) think it's ok to toss their cigarette butts wherever they happen to be when they are done with the cigarette? I just walked from my car in the parking garage to my building and there are dozens upon dozens of cigarette butts all over the ground.

We have a single smoking area at the building. Yet, there are cigarette butts everywhere.

I am a smoker but I don't do that FTR. However, I believe that they think just because they are biodegradable, it's ok. Even if it takes 20 years for it to disintegrate.

What irritates me is when someone throws a butt out the car window. Do they not know it is going to fly right towards the car behind them? People in convertibles and on motorcycles have to be extra careful not to get burned by one.

My mil used to smoke (double heart bypass changed that). One day, we were outside and she was complaining about people littering. I said, "But you throw your cigarette butts on the ground." She said, "That's not littering." I said, "You are throwing paper on the ground. What is not littering about that?"

Unfortunately, I've seen it more than once. Nothing is grossier than having to step over a poop filled diaper to get into your car.

Why do the kids walking home from school throw their chip bags on the ground when walking home from school?

Why does the man going to work throw his coffee cup in the gutter when getting on the bus?

Why does the lady walking her dog throw the bag of poop into the sewer?

Why does the teenager walking the dog leave the poop on the sidewalk or the neighbor's lawn.

Why did the man in walking this morning spit on the sidewalk?

Why did the little boy walking spit his gum onto the sidewalk?

Seriously, many people of all different ages, sexes and whaterver litter in different ways. I'm not saying it's right but as a smoker (who does not throw butts BTW) I need to know why is it that the cigarette butts bother people so much but nothing else seems too?

This happened to me yesterday at Wal-Mart. I notice the diapers a lot more than the cigarette butts. Though I have seen where people obviously just emptied their car ash tray on the ground.

I think there is a difference between a few people littering and most smokers throwing their butts out their window, or on the ground. I know many people who never litter and I know smokers who all do. In fact I am an ex smoker and was guilty of it myself I was young and stupid.
I think its disgusting seeing all those butts on the ground, if you don't have an ashtray in your car, bring one from home. If you are in public and smoking and there is no place for you to dispose of your butt, then hold onto it until there is. Would you just throw a tissue or a water bottle on the ground if you weren't near a garbage can?
I'm sorry, I just hate to see the streets in my town littered with stuff, 99.9% of it is cigarette butts.

I havent seen any ashtrays to buy anywhere. Seriously the next time you are out shopping browse for one. Maybe amazon sells them, I never thought to look there but there are none in any of the stores locally, nor is there a place in the center consoles where it would not fall over.

I was in the car lane to pick up my DD at school the other day and a woman was behind me puffing away in her van (I won't even comment on what I think about this), and right before she picks up her kid she flicks her cig out the window. Very classy.

Well you could always improvise, go to the dollar store and buy yourself a coffee mug. It would fit nicely in your cup holder

One time while I was stuck in slow moving traffic, someone threw their cigarette butt out of their SUV right onto my car! It landed right on my windshield wiper; as it smouldered, it was burning the rubber/plastic wiper right onto my windshield. I didn't want to turn the wiper on, I didn't know what would happen, if anything, and I didn't want to take the chance. I started yelling at the guy from out of my sunroof and he flipped me off. Since I was out in traffic, I got out of the car (dangerous) and flicked it off.

I am a total anti-smoker. There is not One Good Thing about smoking. I don't understand how young people can even start? Maybe it's attractive to some now, but it ages you inside and out. I always remember that poster of a girl who is looking all sexy with a cigarette in her hand, and she's covered in tar. I think it even says something about being sexy. I tell my daughters, you think smoking is sexy? (they think it's disgusting) Take a look at a smoker the same age as me, smell her breath and her clothes and look at her fingers. Now look at me...Who's sexy now
