Just idle curiosity on my part.

I posted this photo on Flickr back in 2012 when I was working on a trip report (It was taken at the Denver Aquarium):

It's a nice photo. But most of the photos I dump into Flickr in big groups when writing a trip end up fading into obscurity with somewhere around 100 views. As far as I can tell, it never made Explore.

Yet, day after day it continues to pick up more views (3 years later) and is now over 3000.

This is not one of life's great mysteries. I'm assuming it's linked somewhere on the web and I'm just curious. Does anyone know how I can figure this out?

I don't know, but I think I've seen it somewhere! (and I don't have a Flickr account)

Maybe it's on Pinterest?

P.S. - It's a great shot!

Try an image search on Google. Maybe you can find where it's popping up at.

It's fun when something like that happens to one of my images. Usually means someone has just linked it to their blog or tumblr, etc.

OK, I had googled lots of phrases like "is my photo linked somewhere" and kept coming up dry.

I had never done a google image search, but just googled how to do that. Interesting. The only result was to some place called Flickrhivemind:

Has anyone heard of this or know if it's actually connected to Flickr?

I know, it's fun. I've been having a giggle over that fish picture for a while now.

I tried to find your image in TinEye but it failed as well.

My pictures are on SmugMug and every once in awhile I find a picture with lots of hits such as you did. Last time I checked using TinEye (I think) my picture turned up in a long conversation thread about that particular location in a national park.

Here's a link to an article on Reverse Image Search Engines with lots of info:

Good luck and let us know if you do find anything!

Thanks! I tried a couple more and still didn't find any more matches.

I've looked over that Flickrhivemind page again and don't think that's driving the traffic. I'm still not sure what that it's used for, but I see now that I have 112 pages of photos listed there. So I don't think that's driving traffic to my fish photo every day. Back to wondering again!

You are a Flickr pro user? When you check your stats, you should be able to see the source of the view.

I am, but never delved much into the stats. I'll check there. Thanks!

Thanks for suggesting that havoc315!

From what I can tell, the traffic is all coming from having that photo included in the "Favorites" section of a particular Flickr member. I spot checked a variety of dates, and almost all of the views came from her list. I can only guess that maybe her "Favorites" list is linked somewhere else on the web.

That was fun to see. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions!

After you posted this, I had to go check it out. Even though you had included the picture above.
