DD's winter basketball league has started. So I'm trying to learn how to use my digital camera (olympus 750). I've tried the auto setting and the action setting. But when their running or the
ball's bouncing...it's blurry? What trick am I missing. I've believe I have tried with and without flash. Should I not be zooming? I have no clue!:(

Any tips you can give this novice would be greatly appreciated!;)
Thanks!

About 12 feet is the limit at which you can take flash pictures. The camera will probably take less blurry pictures (though more grainy) if you set the ASA rating higher.

Try pressing the viewfinder button down half-way so that the camera can focus, then push all the way.

Thanks for the replys. I am not good enough to mess with the settings. I will only use the standard ones it comes with.;)
I do push the viewfinder button half way, focus then shoot.

Maybe I just need more practice.;)

If you are using the auto settings, indoors, moving subject, you will almost always get a blur. You either have to use the manual settings (if you have them), to, as Carl said, raise the ASA/ISO setting to 400, maybe 800 if you have it, along with setting the shutter speed to at least 1/15 or 1/30, or, alternatively, get closer and use the flash. I fight the battle all the time at WDW, LOL.

Wendy, I have the same camera...and do have more difficulty with this Olympus model compared to my last (an older D450 zoom).

I too prefer to stick with the auto setting. DH has alot of trouble with this camera (from shake)...I'm steady after I pause for a bit.

On a recent trip to Disney, we were a bit disappointed with our nighttime shots of the castle & fireworks & parade compared to older camera.

The older one took incredible low light shots.....this one doesn't seem to.

Have you tried the sports mode? Experiment.

Maybe try asking on this forum: http://www.stevesforums.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=22&sid=40be51fa283556025ad0395c3392f5ae

I've seen some really nice shots from this camera. And I've had some good results myself. But not so good results in low light. Better if I add flash. I'm still playing with it.

Good luck!!

Thanks guys....DD first tournament is this coming weekend. I'm planning on trying different things to see what the best result will be. ;)
