Why do I shop at Walmart? (vent)

I think that it is all in the location of the WalMart...There are two supercenters within ten miles of my house. The one in Bartlett is closer, but it is dirty, crowded, bands of thugs and half dressed teenage girls roaming, and I refuse to go there. The one ten miles away in Germantown is wonderful. They have pergo flooring in the clothing sections, the aisles are wide and clean, the staff is wonderful, and I will drive out of my way to go to it. It is right next door to a SuperTarget, and I have comparison shopped. I saved almost $22 on the almost exact same grocery bill due to WalMarts' price matching.

I hate walmart..but LOVE target--i am there at lesat once..usually more times,,,a week...the walmart and target are equal distance away from me..i always go to target

I forgot this in my last post about walmart sales last week. They were horrible they just didn't met projected sales increase. Overall they had an increase it just wasn't as high has they projected so it looks bad in the eyes of Wall Street.

They were beat at their own game. Plus they had they same stuff they do every year. I bet next year the sales they have in the stores will be outstanding. I think that their computers will be around $300 instead of $500 and that the selection will be alot better.

I agree with MScott the location has alot to do with it. If the customers don't care it's hard for the associates to keep up with slobs.

our wal mart looks like they went out and hired the scummiest people they could find. no pride in appearance whatsoever. sam is rolling in his grave.

I so agree Gymmom.. here same story, WalMart, crowded dirty, no pride, and the lines take forEVER to get checked out, Target, if there is more than 3 or 4 people, there is a new lane open, clean, friendly and HELPFUL, as far as I've observed... I too find myself wandering in Walmart, and I think it must be me, if I go in with a positive attitude... DH wanted an air compressor, so in I go, 2nd in line 10 minutes finally my turn, this is a check out NEAR the door, I see the little security person, I even smile and nod, as I'm signing my visa card, then I go to leave and SHE WANTS MY RECIEPT... that DOES it..." are you kidding me? you saw me put it in my purse with my visa, I'm carrying this heavy thing - you know what, NO, sorry you have no reason to suspect me of shoplifting, call the darn cops, this is an illegal search!"

In my opinion they can only hire the best people that put in aps so it must be the town. (no offense) Many people who put in aps want 7-4 monday-friday.....won't happen. They hire what they can and hope for the best
like any company.

They always check reciepts at the door so I would keep it out. They don't do it to make people mad. It's their job. There is this thing called "underringing" where the cashier doesn't ring the item up. That's what they might have been checking even if she did see you. It's for everyone's protection to try to keep prices lower. I can't believe I'm defending Walmart so much because I know their far from the greatest place on earth but you get this a every store.

Wow, I never expected to get so many replies!!! :earseek: :earseek:

I think a lot of it depends on the area in which the store is located. The store near us doesn't have problems with cleanliness or "looking messy". The problem is with the employees and their attitude, as I said it wasn't like this when they first opened. It's very possible that the way the employees are treated by Walmart could be affecting their morale, or it could be that those are the best applicants that they are attracting. I don't know, I'm just guessing here.

The greeters don't always check receipts at the door here, only if the alarm goes off as you are walking out. I have to say that "receipt checking thing" really bothers me. I don't think that the "greeters" are really there to greet the customers, loss prevention seems to be their main concern.
