Why do I feel like I am being punished by DVC for buying resale?

When I log into the WDE I can do everything up to buying a Gold AP, showing the total with taxes. Also under my profile in WDE I'm seen as a DVC member, which I am! Or maybe not????

I have 7- day park hopper passes that I want to upgrade this spring, I'll probably try to get the gold AP then. I'll be sure to post my experience. My wife thinks I'm good at complaining (squeaky wheel that gets the oil). And yes I'm always respectful to the CM's but state my case.

Yeah, I'm a non Florida resident, post 4/4 purchaser and I can see the gold AP as an option to purchase after I log into MDE. I can also see a toggle to identify myself as a DVC member or not for the Platinum passes with it reducing the cost when I select that I am DVC. I think that the issue is that they will check whether you are a 'valid' DVC owner when you attempt to pick up the tickets.

Great. So I am a resale purchaser after 4/4. I already purchased 4 gold AP's on 12/30. I will be traveling in May and activating them then. But now I'm reading I'm not eligible for these passes? Then why were they an option when I signed in to MDE?

You may not be able to activate them, we really don't know. I'd contact DVC and inquire.

Yeah, you should contact Disney and try to get clarification. Obviously, you'll also want to understand what you'll be able to do in case you aren't eligible for those passes. Presumably/hopefully, they'd let you redirect those funds to regular tickets if nothing else. I think the web site functionality is a glitch and that it is pretty clear that we, as post 4/4 purchasers, aren't eligible for the Gold passes or the discounted Platinum passes, but i'd love to be wrong. Please let us know what you find out.

MG: I will bet you a Mickeybar that you are wrong.
I'm always in for a Mickeybar!!

Although I'm not exactly sure what we are betting on...?
If it's that post 4/? Resale buyers can't get a Gold Pass, as I said earlier... I just don't know. It would make sense IMO if they CAN get one, but it is uncertain.
If it's that the Platinum is the only Pass that is discounted for Members, than you may know something I don't. I know from time to time there are promotional passes for Members, but nothing regular that I know of.

Either way, there's a Mickey bar in the lurch!!! :teeth:

So what are we resale buyers able to buy for AP's? Does anyone have confirmed information? It seems that it's an assumption we can't get gold AP's and an assumption that we may be able to get discounted Platinum AP's.

I wish I could find the letter or email or were ever they talked about the perks still available but it was TOTWL, Pool hopping and DVD rentals I believe. As AP discounts is not listed it's reasonable to assume it's not available. They didn't produce a list stating what wasn't available but rather one stating what still was.

When I go to My Dashboard and then click on Membership Identification, I go to a page that says 'New purchasers of a Disney Vacation Club Membership on or after April 4, 2016, who do not purchase their ownership interest directly from Disney still have access to the opportunities listed below, by showing a copy of your Membership Identification. Discover the additional benefits you can enjoy when you purchase a Disney ownership program through Disney Vacation Development, Inc.' It then lists pool hopping, DVD rentals, and access to TOTWL and gives the typical disclaimer about not purchasing DVC based on the Membership extras and blah, blah, blah. This is what scared me off of the idea of trying to purchase either the Gold APs or the discounted Platinum APs when we were purchasing tickets for our upcoming trip.

That along with a couple of reports of people calling to try and purchase the Gold AP and being told they couldn't would also halt me. I'd probably still ask at GS when I arrived just to make certain but I wouldn't count on being able to buy them.

See that's what's confusing. I was able to purchase the gold AP. I should not have been able to purchase it if I'm not eligible. I'll have to call tomorrow and see what the eligibility is. If it is an error on the website Disney should really honor my purchase. There is no mention of direct sale on the ticket page. First the gold AP wa not there. Then it said sign in if you're a Disney vacation club member. I signed in and gold AP is there. So isn't discounted platinum pass.

The Disney website probably only can recognize weather a person is a DVC member or not, not weather they are a restricted DVC member or not. Either Disney doesn't want to take the time to reprogram their website or just hasn't gotten around to it yet. Probably won't bother if it doesn't become a huge headache for them.

What is on those pages is the following... "Item(s) are priced for Disney Vacation Club Members only. For these items, you must show a valid Disney Vacation Club Membership ID at the park entrance to pick up your tickets or passes." I guess it comes down to what 'valid' means.

The white membership card is a valid membership card..... or is it a scarlet letter
