Why do I always get my FedEx Deliveries late at night?

I usually follow the delivery schedule so I know what day it's suppose to arrive. On the day of delivery, I always see "On FedEx vehicle for delivery" sometime between 4 and 5am. But I never receive the package until late at night, usually between 7 and 8pm.

What gives?

No idea why, but the same thing happens here. Always on the truck very early, but I must be one of the last stops of the day!

Just the route the driver takes. Mine always comes at 4 pm give or take a half hour

7 or 8 is late at night? I guess we have a different idea of late. :)

It all depends on the routes taken. You're at the end of his route, others are at the beginning. There is not much you can do about it other than move. ROFL

It could be the courier's route or more likely the service selected by the shipper. There are options for delivery before 8 AM, before 1030 AM, before 3 PM, and even an evening home delivery option. Even if they are at or near the delivery location, couriers are generally instructed NOT to deliver packages before the option selected by the shipper, otherwise it dilutes the more premium products. (Why would shippers pay extra for 1030 AM delivery if they know the courier will probably get it there by then, even if they only pay for 3 PM delivery.)

Just put the "for sale" sign out
I've considered the same. We do ok with FedEx, but our mail always comes really late, typically after 5. But lately it's been as late as 7. It's been late delivery the entire 25+ years we have lived here. Come on USPS...... shake it up a bit.

Same, get my mail at 4pm. Annoying seeing the people on the other side of the street always get their mail at 10am and I've still got 6 hours to go. Alternating weeks is an idea.

I get my Fedex deliveries like 6-8 too. No idea. My folks get theirs at like 10am?

Be careful what you wish for. We were happy when we moved into this house not to be on what we were told was a "hand off street" anymore, which is what our previous street was. The entire nine years we lived there we never knew which mail carrier would show up or any guess as to what time of day that might be. We also had a lot of mail belonging to other people show up, and some of ours get delayed or go missing altogether -- we suspected misdelivered and not returned to be redelivered to us. It was a happy day when we moved into our current house, had a regular mail carrier who generally showed up like clockwork. A few years back USPS "shook things up a bit" and voila, we now do not have a regularly assigned carrier and not only don't know when our mail may show up, but sometimes don't know whose box it may have been delivered to.

I really dislike our FedEx delivery process/protocol/whatever. USPS and UPS are always mid morning to 2:00-ish, they both drop off at our front door. The FedEx deliveries are always 7:00 or later, dropped off leaning against one of the garage doors. There have been $300+ items left outside, overnight when they didn't arrive by 8:30 and we gave up. If it's raining, the boxes are trashed and boxes have just missed being run over due to where he places the boxes. We have a great front porch; it's covered, it's a short walk around a paved path, I can see someone walking to the door from several windows in my house. I even tried to bribe the FedEx guy with garden produce this summer when I caught him dropping a Chewy delivery off at the garage door (I was picking tomatoes in the garden when I heard him drive up). I cringe when I see that FedEx is delivering anything to my house.

At my house FedEx comes around 4-5 pm.

At my job, where I get all of my packages delivered now, they come early in the day.

I think it's all about the route and businesses get their packages first.

I'm also convinced that just because it says "out for delivery" doesn't mean it's on an actual truck. It's just set at FedEx for their next pick up. At work our packages will say delivered more than an hour before they are actually delivered. I was told by our shipping department that the drivers sometimes scan everything at once to make it easier on themselves or so they don't forget.

I'm one of the first on my street to get mail, usually before 10am. I've seen mail delivery directly across the street as late as 6pm.

I'm not sure if it's the same driver and route. If it's the same, there doesn't seem to be a logical reason for it. My neighborhood isn't that large, and it makes no sense to go elsewhere and then return.

Alternating weeks would be fine with me. I really don't care what time my mail arrives. Most of it is junk mail anyway.

It's not rocket science - each mail carrier/delivery person has a regular, established route. Our UPS hub is about 30 miles from our house. Our driver scans the packages and loads them on the truck around 5-6 am and then sets out on his daily route. He has hundreds of miles to cover each day.

The FedEx facilities are about 50 miles from our house.
The same goes for the USPS driver. They are all told how to drive their route - there is no deterring, alternating or switching it up.

And, in the case of UPS, their route is tracked very, very precisely by corporate. Someone has determined the optimal route for the driver, down to when they should turn left and when they turn right. Deviations are grounds for dismissal. Obviously, OP gets their packages at roughly the same time. Tells you where that address is in the list of deliveries.

Yep.

My mail and UPS deliveries normally come between 3 and 4pm. Fedex is usually before noon. They have a certain route they have to follow.

There is a woman on a community FB page for my town that is constantly complaining that she doesn't get mail until 4:00. She calls the PO to complain and they keep explaining to her that the mailman has a certain route to follow to optimize their time. She doesn't understand and saya it;s not fair that one block over gets their mail early in the morning.

That's the issue I have with my mail coming so late. It's 5:30 here now and still no mail for the day. And now I have to remember to keep looking. Because if I don't, sure enough something temperature sensitive (or somewhat valuable) will be delivered and left all night sitting on my front porch. I had prescription meds delivered late at night once when it was down in single digits and they end up outside all night.

It's crazy how I'm the last to get USPS and the last to get FedEx deliveries.
Maybe you're on a list somewhere...

This is how UPS handles it. Businesses first, generally, because they're open specific hours. Consumers, even if not home at delivery time, are technically accessible 24/7.
