Why didn't my FP+ cancel out?

So I pushed my trip back by a few weeks, but my FP+ did'nt cancel out. Why not?

I can't explain the why, but I can share my experience... I had to unexpectedly cancel a trip just a few days before I was scheduled to arrive. I had booked a package so the room and tickets were both canceled when I called, however when I logged onto MDE to cancel my ADRs all of my scheduled FP+ were still there. I thought it was ironically terrible that I still had coveted SDMT and A&E FP+ for when I'd be thousands of miles away while other people's FP+ were erroneously canceled after simply tweaking their packages. I ended up manually canceling them all.

I find that incredibly ironic since I just got off the phone today trying to figure out how half our group was eliminated from all our FP bookings...we were a group of 9 when I made the FP reservations but somehow 4 people were removed from each booking! Thankfully she was able to fix them all but very odd since we hadn't done any changes and I control all the accts etc...

Oof. I guess I had "good" luck even though I didn't need it. Hopefully my manually canceling them continued my good karma for my January trip! ;) In any case, I'm glad they were able to add everyone back for you. I haven't personally had any major trouble with MDE or FP+ but stories like yours are the reason I check it at least once a week!

Just making sure in case this happens sometime (hasn't happened yet though), there's no penalty if you forget to cancel your fp+ reservation in time, right?

Correct.

The software is "unpredictable" (to put it nicely.)

That's not it in this case. Just because someone moves a hotel reservation doesn't necessarily mean they aren't going to use their tickets those days. It's possible they are staying offsite or visiting family. There's no way for the system to know that. so, once you make your FPs just change them to the new dates. There is no penalty.

2. so, once you make your FPs just change them to the new dates. There is no penalty.

1. So, you're saying that guests can make an on-site resort reservation, and make FP+ reservations 60 days in advance, then, within 30 days of the trip, cancel the WDW resort reservations and keep the FP+ they made 30+ days ago?

2. Isn't that a separate issue from the OP's question?
