Why didn't I move to Florida when I had the chance?

hey op..im from jersey also (bergen county) we just recently came home from a 2 week road trip to see his family in fort walton beach, east of destin and panama city. granted its not orlando but man is it beautiful there:beach:we had the chance to move here about 4 years ago for a job opportunity and didnt take it because when i told my parents we were leaving my mom pretty much had a breakdown-" how could you take the granddaughters away from me blah blah blah..guilt was too much for me so my hubby never took it. fast forward 4 years.. same opportunity comes up , gets a better offer which wont be available for a year or so but here we are again struggling with the decision..we love it to vacation but what will it be like to live? one thing i did love about down there is not having the traffic and congestion for up here driving there is actually pleasurable. has anyone been in this situation? leaving family behind? hubby has about 40 family members down there and a few friends..i would be leaving my parents and brother behind..

Yep. I left my parents & brother as well. I did not get a guilt trip though. My spouse left a much larger family - parents, grandparents, cousins & they did try the guilt trip......

In summary, we moved just myself, him & our 5 week old infant to a new city, a new job for me, no friends -- new everything.

It's not for everyone, but the best decision ever. We used to Skype until FaceTime came around, & believe me, living in Florida brings lots of visitors :) Our house is like a hotel. My in laws come every Thanksgiving & my parents/brother every Christmas.

I wake up happy. I do. The air is clean & it's sunny. No more gray, cold, snowy, slushy, depressing days. DD gets outside time all the time. It makes us happy 8) Fort Walton beach area is nice!

Good luck with your decision!!!!
