Why didn't anyone tell me this about Glee?

I became addicted to this show and now my dd8 is as well. I did not let her watch the season, but I have the reruns saved to the DVR and will let her watch only with me there so I can fast forward the parts I don't think she needs to see right now.

I do agree it mellows out as the show goes on but I just don't think she needs to see kids "making out" and she doesn't really know what drugs are yet so for now she can only watch it with me.

We have a few of the cd's and play them in the car constantly. These kids are really talented and I think it is a great show.

Must be me. Secret Life of the American Teenager on ABC Family sends me around the bend. If I hear one more kid talk about having sex (and what kid puts it that way?), I am going to scream. Who is having whose baby? Then let's swap partners and let another couple have a child. Sheesh.

I think Glee's innuendos would go over many kids' heads. And most kids would focus on the singing and dancing....

But I'm old. What do I know????

I agree with The Secret tends have to more references/innuendos than Glee does.

Some of us like an adult edge to shows. Not everything has to be kid friendly.

I agree with you. I do like family friendly shows here and there. Edgy shows tend to showcase better acting and writing. I don't think Glee does extremely well in both areas but the show has an edgy satire aspect that works well.

This show is aimed at high school aged kids. I haven't seen any gratuitous sexual content but the show does deal with teen sex, which is a very real issue for high school kids. We love the show, our DD DVR's it so she doesn't miss it, pretty much all of her friends watch it as well. It is a very popular show with high school aged kids and it is a very appropriate show for them to watch I think.

I think Glee is ok for high school aged kids. The creator of the show Ryan Murphy said right before the show premiered that Glee wouldn't be tween ike High School Musical and that it would be geared towards older teens and adults. My cousin is 12 and she watches the show but she is a singer so she probably focuses more on dancing and singing.
