Why Did You Join Dvc

After the 3rd trip we began to realize that we were going to make this an annual event. But it took us another year to take the plunge. We were content in staying at the All Stars(Still stay there to get a couple extra days tacked onto 1st part of trip)but we realized that cost wise DVC would pay for itself in time. Little did we know an annual event would lead to a twice annual event!

I joined DVC because I'm very frugal. I would stay at the All Stars because I could not justify the cost of the deluxes (unless I got a deal- but since I can't vacation at off peak times anymore due to school the deals are few & far between)-- But now I don't have to!! I get to Stay At the BWV in a 1 bdrm for a moderate price. My only wish is to have a monorail DVC- (don't care which resort offers it 1st)

1) Love all things Disney

2) Go to WDW every year
3) With advance planning, virtually gauranteed availability at our home resorts
4) Love on site Disney experience
5) Only place on planet I can still really feel like a kid again

It forces me to take vactions every year!

Ditto :rotfl2: I procrastinate until it's too late then we end up with a terrible vacation or none at all. I've never been disappointed at Disney :Pinkbounc Now that the room is paid for I am darn sure I will get my money's worth and actually enjoy planning my trips 7 - 11 months in advance ;) makes me feel like I'm protecting my interest some how  Bottomline we used to go every 5-years now we go every year and everyone is much happier, even me :goodvibes

We went to Disney World for the first time Sept 2005. We were all set to buy DVC then, and then backed out within the 10 day grace period. Stupid us.

We have since gone to WDW in Dec 2005 and Aug 2006. We want to go again next year. We finally bit the bullet and bought into DVC last week. Why? Even though we have stayed at the values and love the price tag there, we were desparate for more room. Our little guy will be out of the crib by the next trip, and it would really be nice to have more room for the five of us to spread out. Instead of trying to fall asleep with the kids in the same values room or watching TV with close captioning so as not to disturb them, we can now have our own king size bed in our DVC. Not having to sleep in a double bed will be awesome. :cool1: :rotfl2: (We know about the new family suites, and it still is not the same thing as a DVC.) We can also bring other family members, who have never ever been to WDW and could not afford to stay at the DVC. We can go from commando touring to a truly relaxing vacation. :cheer2:

Our other Disneyphile friends are AP holders and have stayed at the values and moderates. They just did a Beach Club vacation on the recent AP discount, and they said "no more value hotels". They gushed about their whole experience there, and they have been to WDW dozens of times. I have a feeling they will be DVCers soon enough. :rolleyes1

The look of total adoration on our autistic daughter's face as she looked into Tigger's eyes at the CP breakfast and her overall joy while at WDW sealed the deal for an annual WDW vacation. Hotel rooms didn't give us enough room for her to be comfortable and we really needed the kitchen as her food choices are very limited. When DH and I compared the cost of purchasing into DVC vs the rack (and discounted) rates, it was apparent this was the best deal for us. And, as Tacomaranch stated on another thread, it was a guarantee that if we were to die prior to the expiration of our contract, her guardians would be able to continue to take her to the place she dearly loves.

Value, flexible program, Disney quality (product and service).

:wizard: GO TO DISNEY TWICE A YEAR ANY WAY MIGHT AS WELL STAY AT DVC BETTER THAN MOST PLACES WE HAVE STAYED OUTSIDE THE DISNEY RESORTS

Not in order of importance ....

1. We had the most relaxing holiday we've ever had, and with two DS5 & 8, that's saying something!
2. We get to stay in great accommodations for half the price.
3. We can drive if we need to, albeit 24 hrs
4. Its a great place to meet up with friends and family from the UK
5. We can treat my DM and friends who offer their sweat equity on the cottage we're renovating.
6. We can swop points for other vacations (although its doubtful we will)
7. We could justify the cost in our budget
8. Vacations are a priority makes sure of that
9. I spend lots of time planning which I love, gets me out of DH's hair - whats left of it :lmao:

Well, my wife and I just love being there. It is a place that we enjoy and a great place to relax. We do not do commando vacations there. We see what we want to see and if it's busy, we keep walking. In fact we did not buy until our late 40s. We just enjoy taking it all in and having a relaxing time.

Our kids, now 20 and 26, also love to go. We went with DS and his friend earlier this year, they had a ball! Next month we are to go with DD and a friend. They both can't wait, and thats all they talk about! We have also gone with friends. Usually DW and I get a 1BR when going by ourselves. It is absolutely great! Love to relax in the whirlpool tub. ;)

I guess my point is, it's not about the rides, it's about a quality vacation. We can do commando (or not), relax (or not), go out for some great diners (or not), etc. It has not been expensive over the past few years with the low air fares, but that is changing. O well.

We are DLR annual Pass holders. We have stayed on property 2 times. Once at the DL Hotel, and once at The Grand Californian Hotel. We enjoyed the stays so much, we rarely ventured to the park. The only problem was the cost for accomodations was high, and availabilty was low in California. This is not the case at WDW, and we would like to start visiting the other Disney parks. We have a 16 year old, a 3 year old and a newborn. We are looking forward to years of great Disney Trips both in California and Florida. We can't wait for a DLR DVC!

Crib Notes Version Please Just Was Wondering What Put You Over The Top And Made Your Decision

1. We were returning to disney year after year and always seem to want to go back.

2. After a couple of stays at the values, we fell in love with the Deluxes and never looked back.

I love an excuse to have to go to WDW every year. I bought sight unseen and no regrets here. :thumbsup2

The only time I ever got free beer was when I signed up for a tasting at Sea World. Am I not checking into my DVC perks with enough gusto? :3dglasses

My wife and I were driving out of Disney on SR536 and saw the DVC billboard after a day at one of the parks and I asked her if she knew anything about it as we tended to avoid the kiosks thinking that DVC was a traditional time share. She did not know much about it from her brief time as a cast member, but did mention that you could use the points towards a DCL cruise. That set the hook, as we are cruisers.

Needless to say, I researched DVC online and we set up an apointment for a tour and purchased into it a week later. While the original reason for giving it a look did not pan out to be the deal we were hoping, we discovered an opportunity that we could not pass up.

We live about 5 or 6 miles from Disney property and spend several days a month visiting the parks and resorts. On several occasions, we would rent a room on property for a night or two. You can not beat the value and flexibility that DVC brings. We have gone from 2 cruises a year down to 1 with several DVC stays a year. The cost of one cuise per year easily covers all of our annual DVC expenses even if you include the cost of meals while on a DVC stay. With a minimum of a microwave oven and refrigerator in every DVC room, we can eat a meal or two a day out of the room and save even more.

The absolute kicker is the nights we spend in the EPCOT DVC resorts during the food and wine festival. We have 50 BWV points in addition to our SSR points which grants us 11 month access to book our annual Food and Wine Festival stay. It sure beats having to drive back home after a day of sampling and limiting your intake.
