This thread is a follow up to the where and how many points thread. I am curious as to why each of us bought the number of points we did at each resort.
I will go first.
OKW
In 2002 we bought a resale 300 point contract because it is a resort we loved when we toured it in 1992, largest and nicest layout for villas, lowest maintenance fees and a good deal on that contract. Two years later after getting a much better sense of how we would use our membership we added on 32 points. That gives us a week in a one bedroom during Adventure (160) and Choice (172) seasons. And in planning out our points until the end of the contract; enough total points to trade into VWL, BCV or BWV on some January trips (A result of our Dec use year and our point status currently).
BCV
Bought 170 points from Disney because that is what we could afford after buying the OKW contract. Added on 45 points almost immediately to permit us to go for a week in a one bedroom during Choice season. Don't ask me why we did 45 instead of 44. This year we sold the main contract and added on two smaller contracts to leave us 110 points. That is enough for a one bedroom five week-night trip in December. We did not want to chance early December at BCV to the 7 month reservation window.
