Got called an ******* for getting off bus before the ramp was down for scooters

Why would I make this up?

Did they say it’s because you are exiting the bus ? I guess it’s because it sounds absolutely crazy that someone would say something for another person exiting.
Everyone knows the scooters are last.

I do not think everybody knows. In 20 years of trips, it is amazing what people do not know about the processes and what they accuse others of doing.

To the defense of the OP, many people say things under their breath or what they feel is earshot out of others. It is not unheard of that some self-entitled person on a VIP tour think his family is truly VIP and get mad because he wanted to be prioritized. Also, My MIL would not use the explicitive, but that is the exact mentality she has.

I will also add that there are people with disabilities who feel they should be prioritized over everybody else. I know some of those people, always playing the victim card. I have limitations myself, but I wait my turn. Not everybody thinks the same.

I really don’t think they knew, what they saw was scooters go on first so maybe they thought they get off first too. Im not sure but it was a multistop trip going to poly than grand.

You are right, it was out of earshot of me, just not my wife. VIP literally stands for very important person, so I imagine going a whole day being called a VIP could make someone think even after the VIP tour ends that they still are very important. The grandparents were nice, they were the ones in the scooters, it was the generation below them that was the issue.

Hello all. Yesterday around 4pm my family and I were on a bus going from Hollywood studios to Polynesian. As we were waiting to get on the bus and there was apparently this group of 14 who just finished a VIP tour who thought they were better than everyone else, they told us that there wasn’t enough space for us (there was enough space all the kids had seats and only a few guys stood me being one of them)

On the bus was fine, but after we got to the poly apparently this group decided that the scooters are suppose to get off first, and the cast member apparently thought so too, but don't they normally get off last? Basically one of the members in the party of 14 told me to wait until the ramp is out before leaving after their party, I told them I didn’t need the ramp and got off. After I left he apparently called me an ******* which i didn’t hear, but my wife did. I wear a kippa too so I'm at a heighten state of alert. Is this normal Disney behavior now?

I reported this to a cast member and I met with Disney security. I then followed up later but they didn't really do much or seem to care all that much. It was extremely off putting and ruined the magic and still is ruining the magic. I’m not really used to having strangers call me such vile names and Disneys response hasn’t really been great at all.

I've been going to Disney for DECADES mult. times a yr. TONS of bus rides and ALWAYS scooters get on first, but off LAST. Sorry you deat with that.

My wife uses a wheelchair to get around the World, at least for the last few trips. It's been the case that she and others in wheelchairs/scooters get on and off first. I don't think I would call anyone out on it, though.

Off first? At Disney? I've never seen or heard of that before.

I get the frustration when you're tired and waiting in a long line, but I just remind myself to be grateful that I don't need a scooter and I know using a scooter is more difficult and time consuming in other aspects of vacation. Good teaching moment for myself and kids to practice gratitude. - Don't get me wrong their are plenty of times and situations that I'm cranky and tired and start to forget, but man has it made my life and my kids so much nicer when we can.

What gets on my nerves is how when the scooters board first their entire groups get on first too. We were first in line for the bus home from Epcot to WL this past January, but when the bus pulled up it loaded 2 scooters that had just pulled up to the line as the bus was pulling up, and they each had huge groups with them, and by the time we got on the bus we had to split up to sit. I get the scooters getting on first but why do their entire groups get on too, in front of people who’ve been patiently waiting? I know it’s petty, but it irritates me.

Their groups load too to ensure the entire party arrives at the destination together. Separating them in many cases mean guests could be loaded on separate buses which Disney does not want to do.

I’m surprised that their 2 parties were so large that you could not find 2 seats together on the bus! Together they would need to have 30+ other guests and all of them sit separately in order for you not to have 2 seats together. We’ve been to Disney 30+ times and never encountered groups so large that they took the majority of seats on the bus. Your experience was an anomaly.

Disney policy is that the ECV + 6 guests get to board. The rest of the party gets in line with everyone else. This policy is posted at every resort on property.

Just like the policy that says no food or drink allowed on the bus. Jump over and read the thread about all those that bring their drinks on ‘all the time’ but were upset the time the driver called them out. The bus drivers enforce what they are willing to enforce and sometimes do things differently than what is posted. Not the end of the world.

The basis for this entire thread made so sense to me from the start -- Not sure how OP determined the 14 were or were not part of a VIP tour while waiting at the HS bus depot and I don't think that makes any difference regardless.

I know the thread is older… but this part made no sense to me either, unless “14” was hyperbole. Because Disney has a hard limit of 10 for VIP groups. Even babies-in-arms count toward the limit. When we did a different group tour, I was curious how they handle larger groups, so I asked if you can get two guides to have two groups at once, but they said no… they spread the groups out by time (I think they said one group per hour?) so that they don’t have huge groups overwhelm the LL access. And they only allow so many per day.

If 14 was the actual person count, then maybe they did manage to get 2 groups scheduled that day and then the two groups met up later just in time to take the bus. Personally, if I had the for two VIP tours, I can’t imagine I’d be piling onto the bus with the hoi polloi . We’d be caravanning in a parade of Minnie Vans.

Seems more likely it was a big group of self-important blow-hards who thought bragging about being a VIP tour group would get them something extra. Who knows, maybe it had done earlier.

I tend to be pretty matter of fact about things, like, “Sorry, but they need anyone who doesn’t require the ramp to get out of the way. Otherwise, we’re all standing on it/in the way, and they can’t safely deploy it. That’s why there wasn’t an announcement telling us all to stay put. Have a Disney Day!” Then I move on with my day. To be fair, there’s not often that I’m out of my scooter or powerchair anymore at Disney. So I’d likely be waiting for the ramp, myself. But DH would say the same (minus the Disney Day part ) as he proceeded to get off and out of the way to wait for me off to the side.

And I’m a smart***, so if I heard someone call DH something rude, I’d probably say something like “Hope you don’t let Mickey hear that mouth” or “Nice… I’m sure that’s just what the kids need to hear.”

Then that’s the last we think of it. I’m not going to let some fool make me lose time out of my day going to security. Especially when there’s nothing to be done. There wasn’t no real harm, so security isn’t going to try to track down someone who is using what, sadly, some people don’t even consider to be a swear word nowadays. For heaven’s sakes, I’m at Disney I’m here for fun… nothings getting in my way!

They might have been ten people, I didn’t count exactly but they had kids (who all got seats) it was the middle generation of them who were the try hards, aka the entitled ones.
