Why did they cancel my fastpass?

Is that really helpful when people are having issues? Because it seems to me that it just stirs the pot and probably isn't helpful at all.

I would guess this is a tech issue that will right itself soon, as others have in the past. I'm sure it's not an availability issue as none of the mountains seem to be in short supply these days. They are quite often available same day, as some are today. It is definitely frustrating though!

Yes I still have one, but not until 7:00. I guess I should be grateful I didn't lose it completely.

I was wrong!!! It did get switched to Splash Mountain!!!! Now I'm really not happy.

My Space Mountain was cancelled on 4/20 as well. It is our last day there and we wanted to make sure we had one final ride. They switched it to Tomorrowland Speedway (yuck!), but I just switched it to Peter Pan. I wonder what's going on.

We still have one for earlier in the week. Hoping they don't change that too!

As one of the people having "issues", I thought it was funny. And certainly no less helpful than the apologists for FP+ showing up in threads to defend it whenever there's a problem.

Name calling is always helpful as well. I really don't see anyone defending anything on this thread.

If the ride is closing for rehab you wouldn't have been able to ride it under fp- either, so I don't really see this as a fp issue.

It actually is a FastPass+ issue because they make you do all this planning and choosing the ride 2 months in advance, scheduling your day around it as well as your ADRs, and then they change it to crappy Tomorrowland Speedway...something I NEVER would have chosen.

Precisely...... and just the sort of thing they should have expected when deciding to run ride access through what everyone already knew was a less than stellar IT system.

Of course it is, because you have used up one of your 3 selections. Once you learn that your FP was cancelled, you may be shut out of your next best choice. While it is true that the guest would not get to ride the ride under either FP+ or FP-, the difference is that under FP-, the guest would not have gotten the FP for Space Mountain in the first place, and would have had a 100% chance of getting their next best selection. And if they did pull a same day FP- for a ride that went down, odds are they would have been given an "any ride, any time FP" to take its place. With FP+, they got the Speedway. Yay!!

If it was a last minute a-car-went-careening-off-the-track issue, so they had to close the ride immediately or with very short notice, I'd agree with you. But that's not the case here.

Either it's some kind of database/IT glitch, which makes it an FP+ issue, or they out of the blue scheduled a closing/refurb with less than 60 days notice which also makes it an FP+ issue - because you'd certainly expect part of the FP+ advance scheduling paradigm to include making sure all refurbs are scheduled before FP+ windows open.

If the ride closed under legacy FP, the machines would just be covered. You would have walked right on by. You never would have scheduled your day around it to begin with.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but my daughter is at WDW for spring break and she sent me a video yesterday of Space Mt. with the lights on (she was on the blue line). My FP for April 7 is still good so if they have decided to work on it they must be postponing it until after spring break.

I don't see defense. I see suggestions on what may have occurred and what one can do.

I would not connect the lights being on at a particular time to FP weirdness.

It would be nice, if in their e-mail notifications, Disney would provide a reason for their FP+ switch.

Oh and by the way, I'm glad I made someone laugh with my " Anyone who likes FP+, raise their hands." remark. That was my intent, since no one can say for sure why their FP+ reservations were switched out. I also might add, that if 3 people who experienced this issue called Disney, I would bet each person would be given a different reason.
