Why did everyone get off at the TTC?

There's something that I've been curious about since I got back from my trip about a month ago. One day that we were there we took a bus to the MK from POR, with plans to go to the GF for a late breakfast. The monorail was down so we decided to get on the bus. This bus stopped at the Contemporary, Polynesian, and ticket and transportation center before the GF. When we got on in MK we were the only ones on it. Then at the contemporary a ton of people boarded so that the bus was completely full. I figured the bus was probably returning to the MK after making the rounds and since the monorail was down this was how people were going. However, when we stopped at the TTC every single person aside from us got off that bus. I don't know much about the TTC but I can't fathom a reason why so many people would be headed there? Anyone have any ideas or know something about it that I don't know?

It's just one of those things that has been lurking in the back of my mind, bugging me for weeks

TTC is the MK parking lot and where you would transfer for the monorail to Epcot. I would guess most of the people getting off were returning to their cars.

Since they got on at the Contemporary, they were probably going to get on the Epcot monorail.

To the OP was it just the Resort Monorail that was down or was the Express Monorail also not working? The reason I ask is because this past August when my family and I were visiting the Grand Floridian the Resort Monorail down and when we left which was an hour and a half later it was still down, because a bus left the Grand Floridian with it's destinations being the Contemporary, Polynesian, Transportation & Ticket Center and Magic Kingdom which was packed with a lot of guests.

Anyway if the Express Monorail was still running anyone coming from the Magic Kingdom could take it to the TTC so they could get back to their cars or to the Epcot Monorail.

I thought that too but then I wondered, why was there so many people at the contemporary? And why are they all going back to their cars at 10:30 am?

I don't know for certain, I just know that the monorail from the MK to the GF wasn't working for a little bit. I didn't see any monorails running but it could have just been my timing!

I think this is the most logical theory. But they could've been going to DHS or DAK as well. I recall when we stayed at the Contemporary that getting to the other parks via bus was an exercise in pure, unadulterated frustration. We went to DHS once via bus, for instance, and it took about 50 minutes to make all the necessary stops en route!

So from then on, we took the monorail to the TTC, disembarked there and transferred to a bus for DAK or DHS. It never took us longer than 30 minutes to get to a park using this method.

There is no direct bus from CR or any monorail resort to Epcot, except after the Epcot Monorail has closed on EMH nights.

I was there that Day I believe it was Sun Sept 11th... We were leaving MK and they were routing all passengers for the buses to the TTC... I thought it was due to heightened security due to 9/11 but was told that was not the case... Later that afternoon we found out it was a bus fire and they were not allowing guests over near the area so they had to take the boat or monorail over to TTC and then transfer to resort buses.

When we stayed at the Contemporary last month, the monorail was down on our Epcot day. Apparently, they don't call in buses to go directly from the Contemporary to Epcot. Instead, everyone had to wait for the bus that was going to the TTC (and for us, also MK ect.) We then had to get off at the TTC to wait for another bus to Epcot. It was completely insane. Anyways, this is my guess as to your situation.
