Why did Arnold confess?

Not condoning his actions in anyway why did he suddenly decide to come clean? The other woman was happy with the arrangement it seems and not blackmailing him. His wife did not have a clue so why this sudden spurt of truthfulness? Looks like he was doing a good job keeping things undercover.

I don't think that is the case. It would appear that Arnold told Maria a couple months ago and now way the press would sit on a story like that two days forget months.
I'm wondering why he told too because he had to know it would blow his family apart although I wouldn't argue it was the wrong thing to do.

I said on another thread that if the media didn't know anything about it, then Arnold should have KEPT HIS MOUTH SHUT. Too many people have been hurt and it should have just stayed a secret from a mistake made 14 years ago. If he was feeling guilty and wanted to clear his conscience, he should have talked to a priest and then let it go.

Arnold and basically give him a "heads up" that this story was going to run. It was then that Arnold "came clean" to Maria. Just what I heard on local News.

I agree. If he had no pressing need he should have just kept quiet but I also don't think he is the kind of guy who suddenly developed a conscience. The media story does make sense.

I'm confused as well. Why had they split in the first place then? I was under the impression that they had split because of the child and Maria was told back in January. However some places are reporting that Maria JUST found out about the child right before he announced it. So what would have been the reason for their split? I thought the child was the reason (and the cheating of course).

That is not what she said. Men who decide to cheat will do it whether anyone condones it or not. It doesn't matter what LuvOrlando's opinion is. Since they ARE cheating, they should really have more brains about it. Too many people got hurt in Arnold's case.
