Well, I'm one of those "crazy" people who travel to WDW over Christmas, the only time that met our families schedule for the next 2 years.
It was crowded, but
WE HAD A BALL!
I haven't had a chance to right a full review but here are a few take-a-ways...
- Plan. Plan. Plan.
- Rope drop is your friend. Be there 30 minutes early and the park is yours for a few hours.
- Plan late afternoon / early evening TS at either resorts or Epcot (just not as crowded.
- The last few hours of a park are great times as well.
- Rest in the afternoon. Nap, swim, relax or shop.
- Repeat step 1
We were at WDW December 19-27, 2015. Was it crowded. Yes, but we've seen worse at times. My wife's observation was that every day as MK filled up it looked like a sold out
MVMCP.
We rode everything we wanted and only waited more than 20 minutes twice, Soarin and Test Track (only because of FP grouping restrictions).
Planning is key.
My daughters HAD to be at the MK Christmas morning. We're at rope drop at 6:30 am. With FP's for 7DMT at 8, BTM at 9 and SM at 10. When we went in the park, headed to SM, rode twice, rode Buzz three times, used FP for 7DMT, ate a cinnamon roll at Gaston, rode Splash Mt and BTM and were at the bus stop to AK at 9:45 am.
On the bus, cancelled the FP and scheduled a EE as soon as we got in the park. Walk to EE and the wait time was 15 minutes. Rode twice before FP time, rode total of three times, rode twirl, Dino and walked on safari even though we had a FP for about 30 minutes later. We ate at Flame Tree for lunch and was back at the resort by 1:00. One heck of a Christmas Morning!
We ate at Boma that evening. While waiting on our table, we struck up a conversation with another family who got to MK at 11 am. Missed their first FP and only rode the two rides they had FPs for plus Stitch (really?). I didn't have the heart to tell them what we accomplished.
