Why Can't I do This?

I bought an AP for myself and a 5 day PHP pass for my husband for 2 trips we have coming up in 2004. We though with that ticket plus some leftover tickets with days on them would suffice for my DH. We have since decided that an AP would suit him better due to being able to add addtional days. We bought tickets in Feb. and saved the receipt. His 5 day ticket is still attached to plastic holder and has never been pulled off or used. I called the Disney Store where we purchased to ask if I could get trade up and purshase an AP. She said "no" we have to wait until we get to WDW. My worry with that is ticket increases. Is there any other route I can take that any of you experts have heard of? I don't understand why returns like this can't be made with proper receipts???

I don't think it is a matter of TDS being unwilling but a matter of unable. TDS has never been able to upgrade tickets at the store with or without a receipt, that always needs to be done at the park.

While it is a convenience to buy tickets ahead of time, it's not a decision that should be made until someone is 100% sure of their intentions and always be sure of the return policy! You shouldn't have a problem at all getting your ticket upgraded when you get to the parks.
 
TDS doesn't make those decisions, Disney does. All upgrades are made through Guest Services where you activate your AP's.

I would call Disney ticketing and they most likely will be able to help you.

Explain that you are not happy, you want to spend MORE money, to stay MORE days at the hotel so you can eat MORE meals and buy MORE stuff (sorry, can't spell souvenirs!).

It may not work the first time but eventually you will run into someone who knows what "ka-ching$$$" means to the company!
 
I called the number AimeeM provided. I am mailing pass back via certified mail and they will call me when the get it put refund towards the price of my AP--the rest on my credit card and mail it to me. Thank you so much everyone for your help!!
