Why BCV and not BWV for kid club?

Don't get me wrong, I own at BCV and I'm glad they still have the kid club (My youngest will be old enough to use it next year!), but why did they close BWV's kid club and not BCV?

It would seem to me a kid club at BWV would be more logical since there are more things to do for adults there at night.

Any thoughts?

I can only speculate, but I would guess that the BW Club closed because it was used less than the one at the BC/YC/BCV complex, or perhaps the facilities were better/larger across the lake. Maybe BW managment has other plans for the space. We'll probably never know for sure.

:teeth:

Best wishes -

YC, BC, and BCV together have 1421 units. BWI and BWV together have 761 units. So just in terms of numbers of guests served the BC location made more sense.

There is also a Camp Dolphin in (you guessed it!) the Dolphin hotel which seems to be run just like the Disney kids clubs, and is relatively convenient from BWV.

I bought BCV over BWV, because of this....

I think maybe they wanted to convert the space to DVC homes, so could sell more points.

At any rate, I'm now thinking BWV might be a better spot as DD gets older (like 15, 16)......

I love DVC flexibility (hope it continues).

FYI - SS doesn't have one either, which is a shame, because I wanted someway to entertain the little ones while I went to the spa.

So may not get to use Spa til DD gets older..... or hubby less crabby :)

It's really not at a good spot to convert to villas, it's on the ground floor facing the village green. They may open it again at some point.

I imagine they determined it by which was getting more use. Also, while the BWI is a convention hotel, both the Yacht Club & the Beach Club are very dependent on the convention business. It may be a selling point that the child care service is available so that the parents can attend the corporate functions.

Makes me even happier we bought into BCV! (Dispite Pa@OKW's thread!!)I hadn't taken this into consideration!

What are the details of the kids club? What age do they have to be? I'd imagine it's 3, just like on the DCL.

Thank you!

Sherri :)

The childcare clubs are for kids ages 4-12 and they charge $10 per hour/per kid. I'm pretty sure they are open from about 4:30 until midnight. They do have a kids "buffet" for dinner and they give blankets and pillows for the kids as it gets later. You can make reservations in advance (I forget how far ahead) I think by using the 407 WDW-DINE #. I know a couple people who used them and were very happy with the clubs. Unfortunately, we couldn't use the club during our Dec 2003 BC stay because our youngest child was under 2. We did look at the club in the BC and it seemed really nice. I would love to use it when our youngest hits age 4 for one adult night out. It probably wouldn't be too bad staying at the BWV and using the club at the BC. You don't have to stay at that resort to use it's kids club. As long as you don't mind carrying tired kids home to the BWV! :D

Just take a boat back. The kids will think its a ride at the end of the day.

Is the Dolphin club open for everyone? Whats it like?

AMEN!!!

I think it is a shame, too that SSR doesn't have a kid club. Seems ideal with DTD next door.

Anyone know if PB&J is on the kid buffet? (My oldest is allergic.)
Curious, we'll probably use one of the clubs on spring break since my youngest will be 4 so we can have one nice dinner out.

Here is my take on some of the kids clubs we have used.

GF - Very good club. My neices and nephew enjoyed it last year. They stayed there during my wedding ceremony for just a little over two hours.

CR - I would not take my child to this one again. The room had many activities, TV, Videogames etc. However, I think this kids club was an after thought because it was on the lowest level of the contemporary in a corner near the cafeteria. The room had no windows and was not very well decorated. They did have cots, pillow, and blankets for the kids to rest on. We used this one when we ate at the California Grill because we were going to E-nights afterwards.

Dolphin - I stayed at the Dolphin for a conference in May and while I did not use this care facility it gave me the same impression that the CR did. Very Dreary.

Also, don't forget that you can use in room sitters such as Kids Night Out or Fairy Godmothers.
