Why aren't there more TS at MK?

Seriously. None of the TS options at MK even appeal to me a little. Is it just me that thinks this way?

The only TS I like is at the CP...there are alot of choices at the monorail hotels...maybe that is why there are not too many at MK. MGM doesnt have that many either...small park.

Do you not like buffets? we loved crystal palce. We love buffets cause somehow we can usually make everyone happy there but at both 1900 park fare and Crystal palce it went way beyond just everyone being able to like the food we enjoyed our food/meal/service much more than at any of the other restaurants we ate at. My hubbs was upset that buffet meats could so out do the castle/coral reef/and canada. But well we like foods a little simpler and dont much care for sauces and stuff that come all together at the other places. An gasp food touching on hubbies plate how dare they much less the severl places that was steak sitting on mashed potatoes then swimming in sauce. So as I sai buffets work well for us and that may bias us. But other than that no the table services totally dont appeal to me at mk.

We love many of the TS meals in and around MK.

In fact, we have a hard time getting them all in on our 7-8 day trips!!

We love LTT, CM, O'Hana, 1900 Park Fair, and Whispering Canyon.

Just hop on the monorail or boat to get to the MK resorts, Its easy and a nice break in a long day of touring!! :thumbsup2

I love CP and really like LTT and the Plaza...but Tony's - blech.

A quick monorail ride takes you to GF Cafe, Park Fare, Ohana, Kona, Concourse Steakhouse, and Chef Mickey's. You're also a monorail or boat ride from two dinner shows, Artist Pointe, and Whispering Canyon Cafe.

If you can't find anything palatable in any of those places, you might be a just a teensy-weensy wee little bit on the picky side. I'm sure there are others just as picky, but doubt another restaurant would satisfy the group.

I think there could definitely be more choices for TS at Magic Kingdom, but since we do like some, and are happy to go to monorail resorts to eat, it's not a problem. LTT is one of our favorites. It seems to get reviews on both extremes- great and awful. However, the colonial theme is great, and we loved the food. It's not gourmet, but it's definitely tasty food to us.

CP is another favorite. I'm not crazy about buffets, but their breakfast buffet absolutely amazed me. I didn't expect much, but have been raving about it ever since. This time we're trying dinner instead.

However, Tony's and CRT don't appeal to me at all. I've never had any desire to eat at either one. Sometimes you just aren't interested in something, and know it. That's how you must feel for all the MK TS restaurants. However, if I had to firmly recommend one, it would be CP (would have been LTT, but it has such mixed reviews that I don't know how it really is overall.)

The real reason? The MK wasn't built or planned to have many traditional table service restaurants (for example at one time the Crystal Palace was basically a counter service place). They are short on the space they need to have a "real" restaurant.

I think it was more typical 30 years ago for people on vacation to not go to sit down restaurants, especially not in a theme park. I never had a sit down meal at WDW until I was an adult and travelling to WDW on my own.

I really, really enjoyed the CP dinner last trip. Really yummy choices- loved the salmon and broccoli esp!

The only one I really like is LTT for lunch. I've tried a few others and just wasn't impressed.

That's really it. Folks have even noted that guests are patronizing table service restaurants far more now than even just before 9/11. Maybe we're all feeling a little more mortal, and realizing that we need to enjoy the good things in life more, where they're available.

None of the TS places at the MK appeal to me either--.
Fortunately, there are a # of good spots just a walk or monorail ride away.

I completely agree. None of the restaurants in MK appeal to us, so we decided to use only CS credits from our dining plan when we're at MK and then go to a signature dining restaurant another day to use the extra TS meal.

I agree with other posters though, if you don't mind taking some time out of the park the monorail resorts have great restaurants.

We're thinking of trying Crystal Palace this time around. The menu sounds very very good, even just the salads:

Sliced Tomatoes and Egg Toasted Cumin Dressing
Sweet Plantain, Cucumber and Corn Salad
Shrimp, Black Bean and Mango Salad
Edamame Salad - Young Soy Bean
Couscous Tofu and roasted Vegetable Salad
Mediterranean Pasta Salad
Beet Salad with Sag Dhal Dressing
Romaine and Bleu Cheese Salad
Papaya Frisee and Arugula Salad

The rest of the menu sounds incredible as well, especially:

Thai Curry Mussels
Fruit and Vegetable Tofu Curry
Slow Roasted Adobo Pork
Ancho Chile Rubbed Atlantic Salmon

This is a big change over our last visit there, in 2003. Is this place as good as the new menu sounds?

No alcohol at MK. Restaurants just can't do very well financially without serving alcohol in most places. I don't see why it'd be much different inside a park.

My 2 cents.

Happy travels.

We feel there are about the right number of TS places in MK. Granted you do have to plan in advance in order to go somewhere. AK on the other hand definately needs more.

I agree. We like a ts lunch and we always order drinks (wine, beer depending on the meal). Our family doesn't eat at buffets either. Last time we were at MK we ate a LTT and thought it was simply ok. I never thought to hop a monorail or boat ride to one of the hotels. I think we may try that!!! Thanks all!

Yes the monorail hopping makes a lot of sense and it's convenient. Although all the great reviews of CP maybe we'll try that one too :thumbsup2
