Why are you always going to Disney friends

I don't think that everyone realizes that EVERY trip to Disney is different. I don't see the same things everytime & even when I do, going with different people gives it a different perspective. Believe me, I have heard more than once, "You are going AGAIN?" Yep. That's right!!!

That is so true, every trip is different. My upcoming trip is for just DH and I, even though we have been many times, this trip will be a trip of "firsts" for us. We are eating in places we haven't eaten before, we are doing a couple of tours, we will rent bikes and watercraft etc. etc. DH is NOT a DISoholic and never will be, he tolerates me (most of the time).

Imagine the looks I get when I tell people I am going again in October, taking my DD and her friend! Again, we will do quite a few things we have never done. :)

disneydizzy and laura..you rock! (ok, I;m showing my age here, just turned the big 5-0!) can't wait to go in may!!! yeah! maybe we'll do the keys to the kingdom tour. but we'll for sure have a romantic time in the most romantic place on earth! never thought I wanted to see davy jones, but... OMG.. he DOES put on a show!!! sipping on a pina colada with hubby at my side, just been soaring over california, watching illuminations with tears rolling down our cheeks.... hey, maybe we'll walk over to the swan resort and do a little Karaokee, or the boardwalk for a little dueling pianos.
ahh! morning. sun is rising. hubby lets me sleep in a little and gets his coffee and newspaper by the pool... I join him when I'm not so grumpy (I am "she who must not be disturbed" see trip report) .what WILL the day bring? nothing but GOOD things woo hoo!:cool1:

I completely understand. I've been to Disney every year since I was a kid. It was a family tradition, now I want to pass that tradition on to my son. Everyone, including some of my extended family does not understand why my parents & my siblings love Disney so much. I am just so happy whenever I am at a Disney park & I feel like I have no worries & can escape from everyday reality of work, household chores, bills, etc.

These are probally the same people who go on vacation to the same place every year. I turn the tables on them-Why do you go to the beach every year and stay in the same place during the same week. That usually shuts them up. They may not get it but they no longer ask me why.

I have friends and family like that...just the other day I mentioned to my grandma that we were planning a trip for Disney World in September. She said, "you gotta save your money...don't spend it all on some trip."

Of course, she's never been anywhere like that, and I know she doesn't get it.

This will be our second trip to WDW (went once in late June 2003 and only used four of our five day park hopper - we didn't know what we were doing - but at least we'd read the UOG before going). We've been to DL many many times - and we LOVE it, so we figured we'd try something "NEW". LOL.

I figure we had the perfect size family for disney - two adults two kids...we'll always be able to stay in whatever hotel we want (no connecting rooms or suites needed unless we WANT it to fit 5+ :p ), when the boys are older, we'll have two people to sit together on the scary rides - already have that for the rides that fit 2 or 3....of course if we had more kids we'd make it work, but this just works perfectly for us! LOL.

My boys talk about Disneyland all the time - ds4 builds his Thomas the Train Tracks and says, "mommy come see my trains" then he tells me about the ride, and what the people get to do on it. He flies toys around and says that it's a ride. He sits and imagines rides with his brother...I love how he is using his imagination...maybe someday he will grow up and work for disney - designing new rides LOL. And now he's got his brother ds2 (almost three - this month!!) making up rides too.

And when we're driving in the car, they push a button to make us fly (either airplane or helicopter) and we ALWAYS fly over Disneyland! :upsidedow

Oh, forgot to say...I got very LUCKY...dh is a Disney nut too! I don't know WHAT I would have done if he wasn't...

None of my friends, family or co-workers understand. They all question/lecture me on going to WDW again and again, so now I just don't talk about it anymore. Sometimes I feel like I'm doing something wrong, sneaking around behind everyone's back planning WDW trips, but then I found the DIS boards full of friends who understand my WDW passion.

I feel like I'm doing something wrong by sneaking around planning trips, too! People just don't get. Most people just roll their eyes when my DBF and I say we're going back to WDW. It kind of gets to me but I can't make them understand and I'm definitely not changing my vacation plans! I've gotten a lot of "you're going again" lately. We just went in December and we've got two more trips booked this year (one trip starts in a week and the other is in December).

I also don't get why people think its ok to go to the beach over and over again. I'm bored with the beach. I always have been. My best friend growing up loved the beach, though, so we'd take summer trips to the FL panhandle. I'm just not a sit-on-my-butt-do-nothing vacationer. If I wanted to do nothing all day, I'd have saved my money and stayed home for my vacation.

And I don't think our obsession is any worse than someone's obsession with Nascar or football (as mentioned by a previous poster). I think watching a bunch of cars go around and around in a circle is boring! To each their own! I just wish I wouldn't let people thinking I'm nuts for loving Disney get to me so much that I feel the need to hide my vacations.

I have been lucky in the fact that my mom and youngest sister love Disney, too. And I've even luckier in that I've found a boyfriend who loves Disney just as much as I do. And on top of that his family loves Disney, too! I've found my match!

This is exactly what I've always thought! :rotfl:

I have friends and family who are 50/50...
My co-workers love Disney, and if they could afford it, they'd be there playing in the sun everyday! But I still get those funny looks when people hear that I go to WDW on a regular basis, now that I have just recently become an adult.
They ask me, "Don't you want to go on a cruise, or another country?" Well, I've been on cruises, I've been to many other countries...and as beautiful as they all are, I'd rather be having a starlit dinner in Les Chefs Du France while watching Illuminations! It's not a vacation for me, unless I'm back home in WDW!

At least my dearest friend for 10 years shares my passion for Princesses and Mouse ears! I'm so lucky! ....Now to convert my boyfriend....:hyper:

I feel that most people associate Disney as going to your local theme park and can't understand why you want to go on vacation there. They do not understand that Disney is NOT a theme park and that you get totally absorbed in the experience and are removed from everyday life. I have never visited a theme park that does this.

WhenI lived in Orlando, if I stood out in the street, I could see the MK fireworks. I really, really miss that. WDW to me, is like going home.

Yup - we get the same thing - You're going there again? Don't you ever get tired of it? This from people who have been to WDW once or have never been. I live in NJ - grew up going to "the shore" - I know lots and lots of people who still go to "the shore" every summer for a week or two yet the same people who say those words to me NEVER say to them "you're going to the shore again?" "Don't you ever get tired of it?" What does one do at the shore except lay on the beach, read, swim in the ocean, the boardwalk; if it rains go to the movies or the mall. I like the Jersey shore but there are more options in WDW - I can stay at Disney's Boardwalk and do just about anything I want in WDW. I say name something you like to do - I bet they have it in WDW!!!!!
People just don't get it. Then I find myself comparing everywhere we go with WDW accomodations and the quality of the service and the CMs. We find ourselves saying "we're not in Disney World any more. . ."
Good think we all understand !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I find myself doing the same thing. I do believe that Disney has some of the best service in the world. They are not perfect, no company is, but they are better than most. I don’t just think this because I love Disney either.

On one occasion at WDW, I was in the food court at the hotel. Not looking, I accidentally stepped in a plate of spaghetti that someone had spilt on the floor. I didn’t slip, but my shoes, purchased two days prior to my trip, were covered in sauce. I went to the front desk and asked to speak to the manager. My main concern was not my shoes, but to inform her that the incident had occurred, and that the mess was on the floor for almost five minutes. If I didn’t tell her, the F&B manager probably would have never known. When you have a spill like that, especially in a high traffic area like a food court, employees should be on it like a wildfire. I’m sure in most cases they are, but a lot can happen in five minutes.

The manager offered to have my shews cleaned. I told her that I would try and clean them first and that I would bring them back if I couldn’t get them all the way clean. Well, I got the sauce off, but the shoes still smelled like an Italian restaurant. I took them back, and she said she would get them cleaned. An hour later I get a call on my cell from the manager saying that Disney is going to replace my shoes with an identical pair. An hour after that, I get a nock at my hotel door, and there is a CM with my new shoes. That’s service.

This is a good example of how Disney can be both imperfect as well as accommodating to its customers. Another resort however, who knows how the situation would have turned out. Disney is very efficient when it comes to resolving issues, so I’m sure the lack of immediate clean up was brought up to the food staff. Disney sure doesn’t want a lawsuit on their hands.
