I just read in a review that there were birds on the floor while people are eating. Is this for real? Why on earth would there be birds in a restaurant? Is it outside? This has me kind of freaked out, not a fan of birds really.

Its because there is an opening in the hotel where the monorail comes in- The birds get in that way.

We ate there last week, and while we saw the birds the didnt bother us or the food

It does sound pretty gross and unsanitary, but I guess it's really not any different than dining with the birds at Flame Tree, and those birds do bother you.

:lmao: I never thought of the birds getting in the restaurant there before!

Silly, because they made their ADR's 180 days out !

I've seen small ones in the rafters at Chef Mickey's. Like a PP said, they fly in where the monorail comes through the building.

Some birds are gutsy about coming indoors. I see them in Costco and Home Depot a lot.

I have noticed they seem to come in during the morning/afteroons, however I have never seen them there during the evening.

I have the funniest birds at Chef Mickey's story!

We always eat at Chef Mickey's - it's a tradition for us. A few years ago we were having dinner at CM's. We were almost done eating when out of no where a bird drops from the ceiling, hits DH in the head, and lands on our table. Obviously the bird was injured and we didn't know what to do. I swear the whole restaurant (including us) just stared at the bird with their mouths open. A man with a foreign accent came over and put the bird in a napking - all I could think of was please don't let this guy kill the bird in front of our, and all the other, children. He handed it to the waitress and she took it back into the kitchen. I have no idea what happened to the bird but we told the kids they were fixing the bird. A manager came right over and comped our meal. We never asked for anything, honestly we were still just stunned. They checked to make sure DH was okay since lots of people were telling him that the bird nose dived into DH's head! DH was fine, just stunned.

Now everytime we eat at CM's we look for kamikaze birds!

Good one, Robyn!!!

awww, now I am worried about the bird! I hope it didn't end up in a dinner pot pie!

I see birds every once in awhile at my grocery store (Publix, in SoFla) and I always worry because I know that it is kind of gross for people to see, so I am afraid they do something cruel to get rid of them after hours.

I have seen birds at CMs...but not every time I have dined there (probably 10 or 12 times) and if I did see a bird, it was just one or two.

We had breakfast at Chef Mickeys on our last trip and had hoped to do it again. We didn't see any birds at that time. I will most likely change my mind at this point. I am terrified of birds and something like that would just about do me in.

I saw one up on the Chef Mickey sign when I went but they didn't bother me.

If you really hate birds you probably don'tw ant to eat at any outdoor picnic table in Animal Kingdom, we did the picnic in the park and had them swarming around out feet begging for food.

It worked DH started feeding them out left overs it was kind of fun to watch.

That is true. I am wondering, to the OP and minniefan---are you only scared of birds when inside? I do agree, it is kind of gross...but it doesn't scare me or anything. More than anything, I feel stress because I am worried about the bird!

kamik-I am going to word this nicely, because I know how this board gets sometimes, and people can be rude when giving their opinions....I just want to say PLEASE don't do that with the birds unless there is NO ONE around. I cannot believe how many times people feed birds some leftovers, get up and leave, and I am stuck eating with my family, dodging kamikaze birds and bird POOP...and there is bird poop all over the tables where other people want to sit after you leave. I know people that do this mean no harm...but if you think about it, it is very gross!

I'm with you 110%.. Birds scare the you know what out of me:scared1: indoors or out. If one was to fly too close to me (especially my head) I would probably pass out from fear:scared1:

Birds and bugs only bother me when indoors. I can go camping and not be *too* bothered by bugs, but if they're in my kitchen or bathroom, I will FREAK out. Birds, like them when they're outside, can't stand them inside. Not enough to cancel my ADR or anything, just would rather not see them in a restaurant. Blech.

:rotfl::rotfl2::lmao: We will keep an eye out for the kamikaze birds when we are there in October!

An interesting tidbit is that Disney has placed fake "Owls" above the Monorail entrances to the Contemporary Resort to try to frighten other birds from flying into the CR.:)

Look for them on your next trip.it is really interesting.:)
