Why are Conservatives happier than Liberals?

Here's another study that shows that Conservatives are happier than Liberals. The study attempts to show that part of the difference is that Conservative's philosophy, having a greater emphasis on meritocracy, is more able to tolerate inequality. I also posits that as inequality increases, Liberal's happiness declines faster than Conservative's.

Exactly. Easier to be happy if all you care about is yourself.

That's one perspective. Another might be that it's easier to be happy if you're confident in your own ability to run your life, and aren't dependent on others (the government) to run it for you.

It does sound reasonable. I don't sit around wishing I had what other people have. Several of my neighbors have two homes, one has several. I am happy for them. I don't think that they should be punished for their hard work and success. We are hoping that someday, we too will have a second home and will work towards that goal.
