Why are CMs letting people book for July when it's not 180 days yet?

I just read through various posts (especially Cindy's breakfast thread) where people are being allowed to make ADRs for July. One poster said that she knew it was too early but she kept calling until a CM would let her book. Doesn't seem fair to me at all and as my hubby just said, if you were continually called and bugged each day to book early you'd probably do it too in order to get these people to stop bothering you!

Not trying to cause a problem, but I am waiting to book at 180 days for July, so what's the deal?

Oh my gosh, I feel so silly! I just pulled out the calendar and I had miscounted, so sorry. I can't do math at all and this proves it - thanks so much for your help.

I do have one question though, we are going to be there July 3-14, so am I allowed to make reservations from the first day of vacation, or the last day? What exactly does "bookable for July 2" mean?

Thanks, Tiger

Tiger,

If you're staying at a Disney resort, you should be able to make ADRs for the first 10 days of your stay beginning when your first day there falls within the 180 day window. If you're staying off site, you can only make ADRs as each day of your stay enters the 180 day ADR window.

If you're staying on site: Starting on 1/4/06, you should be able to make ADRs for 7/3 (day 1), 7/4 (day 2), 7/5 (day 3), 7/6 (day 4), 7/7 (day 5), 7/8 (day 6), 7/9 (day 7), 7/10 (day 8), 7/11 (day 9), and 7/12 (day 10). In theory, you would not be able to book 7/13 or 7/14 yet (because they are more than 10 days out) but you can always try.

It is impossible to book outside of the limit. It is not the CM who makes this decision, it is the CRO system. If they were try try to book too far in advance the system displays an error.

I have heard some say that the concierge has booked them well in advance, but I would assume that this was an unofficial booking and the CM just took the info and made sure to book it in the system when the correct date arrived.

When I first called to make an ADR on our second day of our trip, 180 days from the FIRST day of our trip, the CM was going to let me make ADRs for all of our trip, which goes through July 4th. However, we only knew we wanted 'ohanas for sure at that point. Now last night I called to make an ADR for July 1 and 3 and she said I couldn't make the July 3rd ADR until today whcih is 180 days out, even though my trip starts on 6/28.

It doesn't matter much since I love to call Disney any chance I can get, but it is annoying that there are variances from the policy.

If you are staying onsite, they were wrong on that. I made all my ADR's for 9 days at 180 days from the first day of my stay.

I'd be a little careful about stating this as a hard-and-fast rule. When they first started taking 180-day reservations, I called 181 days out from my arrival date and was able to make reservations for my entire trip.

I will be arriving April 29, and the CM told me that they had opened the system to reservations to anyone arriving any time in April, even if they were more than 180 days out. She also told me that they were considering opening up for all of May at some point.

This may have been an experiment or part of the switch to taking reservations 180 days out, but I'd say that it couldn't hurt to call a day or two before your 180-day window just to double-check when they'll take your reservations.

I agree with the above. I made all of my ADRs yesterday for my entire 8-day trip from July 1-9.

I made my ADRs for up to July 5 on Dec. 28. Had to call a couple of times because I was told it was too far out, but I knew it wasn't. Wasn't going to argue, called back and got them. :confused3

Just successfully got my ADRs up until July 13th - thanks!

Good luck to all, Tiger
