@Mrs. Ciz I SO hear you on the teaching! DH has been a professor for the past 15 years, and every single year it gets harder and harder. Less support from his department/administration, more disrespect and whining from students. He decided he was done this year when a student gave him the finger in class. DH told the student to leave the lecture and related the information to the student's advisor. The administration came down on DH like a ton of bricks. No disciplinary action or anything, but you would have thought it was DH who was flipping off the student instead of vice versa. Also, the grading, every evening, every weekend. I'd wake up on Saturday mornings and DH would be sitting in bed beside me, red pen in hand, grading before I was even awake. A new opportunity came up and even though it's about a 10% pay cut, he applied and now has a new job. it was a big decision; he has a PhD and being a professor was his dream job. Unfortunately, that dream job morphed into a nightmare scenario, and it was time to leave. Yesterday (8/11) was his last "official" day at the old job (although the new job started mid-July) and he has no regrets, just a huge sigh of relief, especially when he thinks about last year at this time, when he was prepping to teach 20 credit hours in the fall!
