I honestly don't know why other than it makes me so darn happy! How about you?

Because its a place were you can go and be a kid, be silly, pretend, and just have fun. I love it because its a great place to just play!

It takes me back to my childhood. It's a total escape from the real world.

I love being able to experience it now with my own kids and see the thrill they get from all of it like I did, and still do.

Ooooh, Lord, where to begin... Well, that question had been asked on DISboards before in a variety of different ways, i.e., what do you love about DLR, why does DLR mean so much to you, favorite things in DLR, etc., etc., but the irony here is that BECAUSE we all are all addicted and love DLR so much, we all never get tired of discussing every aspect of DLR over and over!:rotfl: It never gets boring, it never gets old - just like looking at pictures of people's trips - even if we have all taken the same picures of the same sites in DLR, we never get tired of looking at everyone else's pictures!! So it is fun to just recycle these topics so it gives us all a chance to remind ourselves of why we love DLR so much - or in this case, why we are addicted to DLR - as well as share our thoughts with like-minded people!!!!

I think I became addicted to DLR when I was a small child. It was a sensory overload. The sights, the aromas, the tastes, the sounds, the toys, the colors, everything. Those things still keep me enthralled, 36 years later. As I got older, I became addicted to the merchandise, and was a spending fool! Thankfully, I have reeled in that bad habit a bit. I almost just think there is something in the air - a chemical - at DLR that captures us all and ropes us in. I just love all the attention to detail all around the Resort - some of it is obvious and some of it is hidden and you have to look for it. I love that Bugs, Toons, Critters, Toys, Monsters, Fish, Pirates, Mermaids, Fairies, Princesses, Dinosaurs, Superheroes, Rats, Villains, Cars, Mice, Ducks, Ghosts, Bears, Chipmunks, etc., etc. can all peacefully coexist in one magical land comprised of jungles and forests and Castles and pirate ships and on and on. I love seeing people from all walks of life, from everywhere in the world, enjoying the park without a care of race, religion, lifestyle preference, gender, age, etc. Everyone is happy at Disneyland, for the most part! That has to be infectious and addictive! I also love walking around in DL and feeling like I have been transported to another time and place in each land. As a kid, I always LOVED the movie "Westworld" (as well as its sequel, "Futureworld"), which was about a sort of amusement park for adults with different themed lands. So Disneyland was like MY Westworld!

I don't know how to sum it up. I could go on and on and on - and nobody wants that!:rotfl: Disneyland just captured me with its magic air and whatever they pipe into it early on, and I have been a lifelong addict!!!

I am addicted to Disneyland because no matter how bad things are, the second I walk through the gates all of it goes away. My friends and family think I'm crazy for going there so often, but I don't think they realize how fantastic it feels to be a kid again, even if its just for a few hours. I love Disneyland and I've passed that love onto my daughter and I hope she takes her family there someday and lets them experience the joy that Disneyland brings.

Because it is the best place on Earth! I love to think Disney, talk Disney and read about Disney. Oh and look at pics of DL too. I love that I can go there with my family and it is a nice vacation and we come home feeling rested but that we had a really good time. I like that it has something for everyone, even my DD (9 months) loved it last month. I love that no matter how many times I go there is always something new to try, do or see.

Because when we are there all the stresses of the real world go away. Seriously, when we leave as we get closer to home and those stresses come back. :( It's our Happy Place.

It is my happy place. I love that you enter this world where you no longer have to be burdened by reality. It makes you smile and forget your troubles. I can't wait to see the smiles on my kids faces when we go in april...I get goosebumps just thinking about it. It is like you all have said...I love disney, I eat drink and sleep it lol I never tire of riding the same ride over and over, I can read about the park all day and look at pictures all day. Even though I have been there to see these things myself. It is in my blood. Brings me back to my childhood and I hope my kids love it as much as DH and I do.

....... because for a brief period of time, real life (and all it's troubles) just seems to disappear.

Because it's seriously better than working or doing anything else, for that matter.

just like looking at pictures of people's trips - even if we have all taken the same picures of the same sites in DLR, we never get tired of looking at everyone else's pictures!!

Oh my god! That is so true! I spent over a year going through trip reports looking at photos, then when I finally got there, I pretty much made sure I had all of the same photos myself!

To usschmidt. You're addicted because you're absolutely crazy  that's why you're in such good company here! :hyper:

It is the Magic it just swirls around you as you enter the gate and head to main street and see the castle, then you heave a sigh of relief because it is still there!!

As you leave for the last time that magic curls around you and seeps into coat pockets, gloves you ate your corn dog while still wearing, it was too cold to take them off. And even though they have been washed they still have a trace of that beautiful smell of a hot corn dog, the best in the world!!

It is the picture of your families absolute Joy!! Playing with the Cookies on Minnie's table in her house.

THAT IS WHAT CALLS YOU BACK!!

Bec - It was 10 years before I got to to a Disney Park!! I spent 6 yrs here on the DIS saving every scrap of info in a folder.

~That is so true! I spent over a year going through trip reports looking at photos, before I finally got there. ~

Yep!! No matter how many versions of the Castle I have seen in pictures, or the big Christmas tree on Main Street, or Mr. Potato Head in the TSMM line, or the exterior of IASW - I never get tired of looking at people's pictures! And we all have many the same shots, to a large degree! But I love them all! I love to see the shots with groups of happy people in them, with or without characters, and I love to see pictures of just random DLR sites, old or new pictures, whether it be bathroom signs, shop signs, restaurant signs, whatever. Same thing with the Trip Reports. Even if I have done certain things and written about them in my own Trip Reports, or read about them in 20 other TR's, I love to go back to the TR forum and find old ones that I missed or new ones that just popped up and start all over again!!

I agree 100% with this. Especially for me being laid off last friday. I went to DL and felt relaxed and worry free. Its like a escape from the real world in a way for me , I am glad I have the AP.
