Our friend and her two kiddos are coming on their first cruise with us. We will be on our 5th. We have separate rooms. What is the best way to board together or not too far apart?? I’ve read do the DCL transfer for an earlier PAT. Would we still choose our boarding times when we do our online check in? We will be able to do that before them, and my husband doesn’t want her kids to have to wait too long after us to board. I don’t want to wait and board last because we’d like to get on asap to eat lunch. Any tips or suggestions to board at the same or very similar time?

If you're staying in the same hotel and do DCL transfers you'd more than likely have the same boarding group/PAT as it's automatically assigned with transfers. Transfers from the airport were all BG 3 when I last sailed, with the entire boarding time as a window.

I'm silver and my mom was a first timer, she still made it on board in time to get a sit down lunch at Arrendelle. We weren't trying to board together though as she was driving in from the first part of her vacation and we had taken transfers from WDW

Very easy solution - board with your friend. That way you both board at the same time. You might have to wait an additional 5-10 minutes from your boarding time. Or you can plan to board at your time, get a table for everyone at the buffet and wait for them to join you. Cell service still works on the ship while you are in port so you can call or text your friend on your location.
