Dh & I wanted to get married at Disney. We had the date booked etc. We live in Seattle, dh's family live in S. Florida. ALL of my family had to travel no matter where the wedding was so we thought Disney would be great because MIL could invite some of her friends if she wanted (didn't matter to us). We though she'd love that we were allowing her friends to come.
Well my MIL threw a huge fuss about it, saying her friends weren't going to drive to Disney blah blah, we should get married at her house instead. I gave her the choice of Disney of Seattle. In the end Seattle won. We opted to do a very Northwest style wedding since 90% of the people were traveling. (We did have Mickey and Minnie walking out of a Cinderella Castle cake.)
While we love our wedding, part of us will always regret not having it at Disney.

We told close friends and family two years ago what our plans were, and told them that could come if they wanted but we didn't expect them to. We were lucky enough to have our immediate families and close friends come down (13 in total), and they all stayed at Disney for the week. Most were looking for an excuse to go down, and we provided them the reason. We chose Disney mainly because we were footing the bill entirely on our own (and we love Disney). We also both footed college entirely on our own, and will be paying back student loans for years to come. Neither of us could stomach the idea of paying back $20 - $30 grand on a wedding on top of our student loans. Disney was affordable. No one complained about coming down, and everyone raved about the wedding, the location, the weather, etc. We had a "reception" in August to celebrate with those who couldn't come down. We had the people we love most around us, and they were happy to be there.
