Well, I have been putting it off for the past two months but I finally decided enough is enough and no more procrastinating lol. My girls' rooms are atrotious and need a DEEP cleaning before Christmas is here. And by deep I mean clothes, toys, shoes, hairbows, etc lol. I spent all day yesterday cleaning Holly's room (age 6) and had six garbage bags of trash and goodwill donations. Plus I found some of my spoons that were missing and apparently she got into something cause there was gross brown goo smeared on the inside of her closet lol! It looked like poo and I tried to convince DF to smell it to see what it was but he just laughed and said NO WAY! Thankfully it smelled like hot chocolate...yes I actually smelled it and was relieved to say the least lol.

Now I am about to go start on Remy's room (age 11) while she's out shopping with DF. Her room isn't as bad as Holly's was so hopefully it will go quicker lol. And lets hope there is NO brown goo!!

Anyone else "spring cleaning" before the holidays?

You are on your own! :lmao: I barely have time to work, shop for Christmas and make dinner!

I'm in! But I am actually going to make DD9 clean it when they are out for Winter Break.

Everything is going to be shoveled into some large boxes and the entire room emptied out. Then I will go through it all with her in the comfort of my living room and throw most of it out or donate it! She has way too much junk. She has to go through it with me. If I have to suffer, so does she! No free room cleaning.

Yep, I am with her!

I still have about 70% of my Christmas shopping to do! I was baaad this year.

Good news is, the house is clean, so no worries. :thumbsup2

My DD-8 hates to clean her room. You can't even walk in there. I cleaned it a few weeks ago...:confused3

I told her she needed to clean her room or we were returning her presents and she would have nothing to open on Christmas morning.

She told me I could go ahead and just donate them to Toys for Tots.
She would rather get nothing for Christmas than clean her room.:confused3

LOL, don't get me wrong, I am not saying the girls don't clean...they do...by pushing and hiding all their "treasures" aka old broken toys, McD toys, papers they HAVE to keep, and in the case of Hol's room a deflated stuffed animal that literally SNOWED all over the closet. I was in awe of the amount of tiny white sticky "stuff" that came out of that thing...it was horrible to vacumn and kept sticking to me lol.

A few times a year I clean their rooms to MY standards and purge crap I KNOW they don't play with or need lol. It's easier to do myself versus listening to the hundred reasons why the NEED to keep something. Though for entertainment purposes the reasons they come up with will crack you up!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I do the smell tests too, you just gotta know. I smell kids armpits for bo. :lmao:

I need to "spring clean" dd2 room. She is in that stage between baby and not baby anymore. She just went to a toddler bed and I have to get the baby toys and stuff out hopefully before xmas. I feel your pain.

:thumbsup2 Good way to put it!

There's light at the end of the tunnel! I used to have to help my youngest shovel out his room a couple of times a year. I swear he keeps every single piece of paper he lays eyes on. We used to get so frustrated! He's now 14 and he's kept his room reasonably tidy (if you don't expect a made bed and can ignore one or two articles of clothing on the floor) for over a year now!

I am!! My kids rooms are rat holes. It is awful. My dh has the same two weeks off my oldest has, and they are going to spend some quality father son time cleaning out his room. I cant wait to be able to see the floor again. :woohoo:

Too funny, I hate smelling anything in my son's room:rotfl:

I work hard to make my son keep his room in order or it would be a dump and has been a total health hazard in the past.

Just this week my nephew (17) was asked to clean his room up before his grandparents arrived for Christmas. He has moved all of the 'junk' into the boot of his car and when they leave he's going to throw it all back.
My sister is demented:lmao:
