Seems as though there are quite a few of us who are there in May, but not there for the Stringer-fest. Which spookily also sounds a lot like string vest. Anyway...

How about it? All we need is an organiser.

well Im up for the string vest!!!

Would also possibly be up for a non string vest meeting to, depending on what day/eve it would be!!!

UK DEB consider yourself duly elected, who will second her??!!!

Jules

Hello well this sounds like a plan - Deb is duly seconded by my good self :)

I'd be up for a meet. (I'll tell DH later!!;) )

We are there from 10th - 16th May

we're there from the 12th as you know, and sounds like a good idea to me Deb!:Pinkbounc

I think we all just nominated Deb as organiser - especially as she has the huge villa with a juke box ;)

We'll be arriving on the 14th May.

Also attending the string-vest extravaganza :) however, other than the weekend of the 23rd- 25th May, we'll be in Orlando/Kissimmee and up for a get together if we can make it.

Sounds as though we have the beginning of a plan. neo's wr - you are all very welcome at our villa! Having said that, I know from past experience that it can be a bit tricky for those without a car.

I suppose we should discount (or should that be DIScount :teeth: ) the BoardWalk as it seems as though there will be a few attendees at both.

So, I'll start the suggestions:

Our villa;
Somewhere in World Showcase;
Downtown Disney;
One of the monorail resorts.

Any other suggestions?

And what about a date? From those we've got so far, it looks as though 15th would be sensible, on the basis that neo's wr doesn't arrive until 14th and JayneL leaves on 16th.

Hi Deb

15th May sounds good to me - I'll pencil it in.

I like the sound of your villa as I'd really like to see it, and the area, to see if we'd like to stay there sometime ;) Unfortunately we can't offer anyone a lift as our hire car will be full of us! LOL

As this is our first time in Orlando, and I'll be chief guide and map reader:rolleyes: I'll go with any other suggestions/choices from those in the know. Give me an address and we'll find it!

15th May sounds good -

I'd love to meet at the Villa but we won't have transportation.

If we meet at World showcase I was going to suggest Cantina San Angel - margaritas !!! Or the good old faithful Rose and Crown.

Or if people don't have the days to spare on their passes a monorail resort would also be good - there's a lounge bar opposite the Concourse Steakhouse at the Contemporary that has a view over the lake.

Downtown Disney - isn't there a little Margarita bar by the water there - are you seeing a theme here ???

To be honest wherever is good for us - and the 15th is a perfect date.

Thanks for organising Deb :)

Yes, thanks Deb.

One quetsion are these places like Cantina San Angel and the Rose & Crown OK with children in the evening (I'm presuming it will be an evening meet)? We'll have a 10 and 8 yr old with us.

Somewhere we don't need a pass for would be good - we're not planning on being in any parks that day so wouldn't want to lose a whole day for an evenings drink. Or have I got the wrong end of the proverbial stick about that?

That's the trouble with being a newbie - big learning curve ;)

OK Neo - These places are OK for kids BUT they are in EPCOT which would eat into your pass so they're probably a no go anyways.

It's gonna be great meeting up with WDW newbies as I love to hear what you think of the place - it's gonna be so exciting meeting with you :)

Sam, thanks! :)

We'll have barely got our bearings when we meet as it's only a couple of days after we land. Our children are a great age to visit Orlando now as they can walk around all day if plied with enough icecream and drinks ;) and are big enough to get on most of the rides they'll want to try.

They've been to the Universal & Magic Mountain in LA, DLP and various other European and UK parks - but I have a feeling all this will blow them away!

Not to mention having our own pool at the villa :)

Can't wait to get there!

15th is good for us too. if I've done my calculations right it's a Thursday. yes?

We will have a car so could offer a lift to 2 people if necessary. If anyone can put up with DH driving!! We did drive on the wrong side of the road last time:o

Are we talking evening or day time here?

15th is ok by us too! (well, I'm sure Mark will agree when I tell him anyway!);)

We won't have a car but I presume we could get a cab to take us to your villa, or wherever the meet is Deb:)

We'll be staying at the HRH that week anyway so would need to use transport one way or the other anyway:)

Just let us know the venue:Pinkbounc

Well, it looks as though we've ruled out a park, so we're down to our villa, a monorail resort or DTD. It really doesn't matter to us, so I guess we should leave it to those who don't have transport.

I think we need to make sure that we choose a venue where there's something for the kids to do, although we won't have ours with us this time. Woohoo! How many children will there be? Matt's suggested that, if at our villa, those with kids bring their cossies. In fact, we could have a pool party - everyone bring cossies!

Sam, yes, we've spent the odd hour imbibing at Mexico and the DTD margarita bar! Matt mixes a mean one, so you'd be alright at ours! I do like the sound of the lounge bar at the Contemporary. Would there be something to keep the kids occupied?

I would prefer an evening meet so as not to impact too much on the rest of the day. What does everyone else think?

WE CANT MAKE 15TH!!!

We have Ps's at AK lodge, boma's.
Is another night an alternative??

Jules

OK I'm completely sold on the whole Villa idea - Well get a cab it would make a nice change - hope everyone else agrees - if not, not too worry I'm easy really :)

LOL Jules so do I but I'm just gonna change them - is it possible for you to do the same or can we do another night? We can't do the 16th as I have PS for California Grill to see the fireworks but if that's the only other alternative night that everyone can do - then don't worry about us.

We could make the 16th but the 15th would be better as Friday would be our last night and even though I would love to spend it with you guys I was hoping for a nice romantic meal or stroll somewhere!! Well it will be the last night without the kids for who knows how long:(

The villa sounds good to me but as with everyone else I'd be more than happy where ever it was.

Villa would be great for us, if thats ok by you Deb!:) ..but wherever is fine!

...and an evening suits us better too.......

15th would be better but can do any eve from 13th to 16th:smooth:
