Put it this way: I (and most WDW visitors) don't go on vacation to be preached to or reminded of the outside world. I go to escape. The mere presence of replicas of religious buildings like in China, Norway, Italy, Morocco and Japan aren't part of the category of proselytizing. I would go to those countries and expect religious buildings. The skywriting is akin to someone in the park personally pushing their agenda on me, or ruining my photo of the landscape like the crane in MK for the castle refurbishing. I find it annoying. Not offensive, annoying.

:woohoo: BRAVO! One of the best put statement thus far. DH and I encountered the sky writer during our trip, and at first sight it was interesting to watch and try to guess what he was writing... then after the second day of seeing him, we thought it was getting old. Basically, this guy needs to find something better to do with his life than push his religious beliefs on the thousands of people who visit Disney World each day. I totally agree- I didn't find is personally offensive... just COMPLETELY ANNOYING. Disney to me is about forgetting it all and becoming part of a Fairy-tale land. Frontierland just isn't the same with "Jesus-plane" writing in the sky. Sorry, but it isn't. I can't believe Disney can't do something to make this guy move his work. :confused3

Once again

1.) The backend of your car - is yours to do with as you please, but the sky belongs to all of us.
2.) It's a LOT easier to ignore bumber stickers in two inch letters vs fifty foot ones in the sky.

If it offends you so much why don't you just exercise your equal right to free speech and right to the sky and you can rent your own plane, and when the guy writes "Jesus" you can fly in and write "sucks" behind it. Would that make you feel better?

And if some Muslim wrote praise allah in the sky with their plane, it wouldn't ruin my vacation. I've found that most humans have various opinions about various things. So i don't waste my time being "bothered" by an opinion that someone has, if I don't like it I ignore it. You must be very uncomfortable with your own beliefs if you allow a sky writer to ruin your vacation. I'm glad I'm not that easily offended.

You know - thank you =)
I was going to reply to him then I realized a couple of things
1.) His view of reality is obviously based on some mirror universe out there somewhere.
2.) I am not searching through 18 pages of posts so I can quote the people who basically called him a moron
3.) That I am in fact feeding a troll - which means I'm acting like a moron.

But thank you for making me feel better. :goodvibes

OK, you asked.
The fact that some view you as a li'l

For the record no one said being a Christan makes you a freak, except all the Christans that jumped up and down saying "I'm a freak too!"

Uhm because I don't have that kind of money to waste?
And uhm because Jesus doesn't suck (Why is it that if I think this is tacky I must think Jesus sucks?)

I'm not uncomfortable with my beleifs, however I am fearful of Christans in general due to hard won scars (literal) and experience. Esp the ones that would go out and do something like this... but then if you bothered to read all of my posts before passing judgment on me you might understand that.

Oh my gosh, I just realized that one building in Morrocco in Epcot could possibly resemble a Mosque, which from what I understand has religous conatations. I am soooooooo offended now. I will never be able to go back to Disney for this very offensive religous reference. Why can't I stop being offended? Oh my gosh I just saw someone in the building wearing a cross around their neck. I'm offended again, i guess I better just go home and turn off all my lights and TV that way, there is no possible way for anyone to bring up religion so I can't get offended.

Oh oh, the Bush folks are callin'
the religious right religious NUTS!

See? Now thats just being snide.

:sad2:

Just because we arent "Jesus Freaks" doesnt mean we need prayers.

Agreed. Adding the "prayer" comment was just adding insult to injury.

I was raised Catholic, but I have to agree with those who said "when in WDW I don't want to be subjected to religious messages".

Well if someone attacked you and gave you a "scar" they are not a real Christian. There are a lot of peeps that do a lot of screwed up stuff in the name of religion or Christianity but that doesn't mean they are a real Christian. Just like I would imagine most Muslims think that the freaks that flew the airplanes into the world trade centers are not real Muslims.

You know for someone who doesn't belive the opinons of others should offend someone - you're awfully offended by my opinion.

I nominate this for 'Friday Thread of the Year'. It seems that Fridays spawn more of these contentious threads, most of which veer off topic, than any other day of the week. This one beats the 'Let's Close Down the R'n Rollercoaster Because Steven Tyler Gives an Obscene Hand Gesture in the Pre-Show' thread of a year ago, hands down (pun intended).

Given - which is why I admitted that what I don't like is the visceral fear reaction I get around that kind of thing... not that I so much had a problem with the message (outside of my belief that religion is a private issue and has no more place being blasted at full volumn then the intimate details of what someone and their spouse did under the covers three weeks ago.)

On the other hand, why is it he has the right to scrawl anything he wants to across a sky that belongs to everyone on the planet, but I'm an awful person for stateing an opinion you don't agree with on a message board where it's reeeeaaaallly easy to see my name and ignore me?

No I'm not offended by your opinion. Its America and you have the right to be anti-religous, anti-God, anti whatever, if you want to paint a pentagram on your floor and burn candles and sacrifice a sheep, that's your right and I would fight to preserve your right to do whatever you want. I'm not offended by what you wrote, I'm just at work and bored and like to debate peeps about stuff. But I admit it just kinda makes me go ummm to see peeps get so "offended" about things like this. I guess I just have a much thicker skin.

Fay has been shut down! Fay cannot answer my questions. How sweet it is.

Ya know, I'm startin' to get offended :lmao:
I grew up with some great times in the '60's
when freaks was well, freaks :3dglasses
Let's start callin' these religious rights
what the current administration calls 'em...
NUTS! Oh man, did I just agree with Bush? :lmao:

Number one before you make statements about another person's religion, you might want to educate yourself. I don't sacrafice anything, though I have no problems with those who do (I find it a little difficult to get sanctimounious about animal sacrafice over my KFC bucket).

Debates can be done intelligently - they don't require rudeness, nor do they require arrogance, or mockery. True debate is done on an intellectual level without making fun of your opponent and without mocking their opinions.
To resort to the tactics that you have doesn't show the mind of an intelligent debater, but instead illastrates a desire to :stir: stir the pot, so to speak.

It says very little about your opponent, and a great deal more about you if your first and only line of defense in a "debate" is to insult, ridicule, make assumptions and try to tear apart the opinions of your opponent with no factual input using what basically amounts to little more then school yard bullying.

I'm very sorry - but there is a diffrence between true debate, and what you are doing.
