Killing time at work today - just have to be here in case the phone rings, so I took some time to look over the excursions offered by
DCL for the ports they have available to get an idea of what we will book through DCL. Here's what I think we're going to do for this trip:
Villefrance - Monaco, Monte Carlo, and Eze. We had thought about splitting up our time here and doing part one time and part the next, but there is enough free time built into this excursion plus getting to Eze on our own was a bit more complicated than I wanted to figure out, so we'll just do it all at once.
La Spezia - We're going to do Cinque Terre on our own because the Florence & Michelangelo one isn't available for this sailing. It has the David as part of it which I want to see.
Civitavecchia - We're doing Rome in Limo for a private tour - and after looking at the prices that DCL has listed for private vehicles, we can see we are definitely getting a fair (but better) deal. On the next sailing, we're probably going to do the Bracciano and Wine Tasting and probably let the teens have a day onboard the ship without us, especially since we'll have full-dayed it in Florence the day before.
We'll have to wait and see about Athens, Ephesus, and Mykonos. They should be listing those soon, I hope!
Malta - we are looking at booking the Malta by Private Vehicle Van with Driver and Guide for 4 hours. The price is fair-enough when you per-person it and then we can see and do what we want to while there - get a good overview of what's around - and then when we come back on the next itinerary, we'll know what we want to do or not do. The prices for these are much more reasonable than in the other ports.
Not a bad way to end 2012 - planning excursions for 2013!
