Who's in for GREECE and TURKEY, June 15 2003????

And we blew thru the 300-day mark with out it being duly noted! We are now at T-287 days!

We did it. Booked our airfare. Didn't think we could do the direct flights much cheaper. United out of Newark wanted 1,687 a person. Got USAir out of Philly for 1,047 a person. I like pretty much between both airports so I booked it. Don't think United will come down enough to beat that price.

Are you returning the day we return to port (6/27/13), or are you flying out the next day (6/28/13)?

We're flying out the 28th

Like you we are going out on the 28th easier with the flights. DSIS and DBIL are going out on the 29th. They booked their airline yesterday on Delta but they got $100 less than us by going out of Norfolk rather than Newport News. They live closer to it than we do. Leaving Friday on the Magic to Canada. I will report back after our trip! It will be trip #10 which will make us platimum for this cruise!

Did you have a great time?

It was fabulous. Had a really good time. Loved having 2 days before and after ports to just be at sea and relax

Is there a Facebook page for this cruise. Our April fantasy cruise had one and it worked out quite well?

We had one for my NYC to Bahamas cruise and while it was easy to communicate people virtually stopped posting here and those without FB were left out.

I am on a Facebook group for our other cruise but can't follow the posts well because I never can tell when someone posts or replies. I personally prefer to just be in One place and that is the DIS. The DIS has a great app for iPad that I've been using and am currently typing this in. So that lets me access DIsBoards mobilely so I don't see an advantage to a Facebook group. Just my two cents.

It's been awhile, but wanted to let you know that I'm still on board! Booked my Pre stay in Barcelona! Staying at the Marinaview B&B for two nights. After the cruise Kirstyn and I will be joining Marianne in Venice. I've picked out the flights I want to choose, but watching the flights, hoping prices will drop. Off to WDW for Canadian Thangsgiving in October. Going to partake in Food & Wine for the first time! Booked the dessert party while there ... I love my desserts :-)

The staff at EPCOT did the dessert party for DCL on our Bahamas cruise and I must say if you're doing the party for the desserts you will probably be disappointed. They are not great. We did it for the fireworks seats which we didn't end up getting. ( long story). Got most of our money refunded.

What is DCL 'recommended' time to get an outbound flight on our return date? I can book a flight out at 11:55 a.m. This will put me back in Chicago at 5:00 p.m. that night. I can save the cost of a hotel room and food the day/night of June 27. I will be spending time in the Barcellona area the week before the cruise, thus seeing Barcellona will have aready been accomplished.

You should be fine with that time; just make sure you file your flight info with DCL because they can put you in early disembarkation. We are staying two nights pre and one night post because our return flight is earlier than we felt comfortable with. In 2007 we flew home the same day and were beat down tired. Coming back from the Baltic we spent two nights post cruise in London and it was better. I think what happens is we stay up entirely too late on the last night of the cruise but we will go to bed at a reasonable our when at a hotel so we are more rested when we head for home.

We're out at 12:05 that day and our TA had no problems putting the info in with DCL....

...and are looking to splurge on business class, go to American's website asap. I finally booked our flights last night after getting my weekly Kayak fare tracker email. I looked at it, then immediately started looking to see if I could duplicate the fare quoted ($2300-ish, round-trip, from both Seattle or San Francisco). :surfweb: It required us leaving the 13th from SFO instead of the 12th, but I'm good with that. I just looked again to see if the fares are still there, and it appears they are....

Thanks for the responses. I called DCL air deviation and still can't figure out why they are so secretive about everything if they can tell me how much the flight is they should be able to tell me flight numbers. either way I found the flights we wanted on Air France out of Boston, so I will call and cancel Disney Air today. With that said do I drop the insurance too?

They don't actually book the flights until 45-60 days out - they contract with the airlines for prices - it's why they want $1818 for me to fly from ATL to BCN but I can book it myself (same flight, based on experience) for $1427. They also cannot change the airfare when the prices go up or down - it's fixed at that price. Our TA checked for us late last week to see if there was any negotiation room.

So we're going to book on our own - just haven't pulled the trigger because we're deciding if we want to rent a car and drive to ATL the day before or if we want to try to book from our home town and worry about flight delays that morning. I priced out one-way rentals to drive to ATL so we don't have to pay to park for a month or leave our car at my brother's house for a month (he's tight on parking space but usually lets us do that for two weeks - we've not done it for a month before). Home to ATL is $52, but ATL to home is $150.

We did it. We booked airfare this morning. ATL to BCN, leaving June 12th on the red-eye. We got four seats together - two and two - so we're set for the flight. We have two nights booked at the Renaissance Barcelona through DCL pre-cruise. We are saving over $1,100 by doing air on our own even after adding back in travel insurance. Definitely enough to make it worth booking on our own.
