Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

I vote for DL too! :rotfl2::cool1:

Our second trip there wasn't as bad. We got there late afternoon and had supper then went to sleep. Next morning we had room service and a massage. After that I was fine. I swear it made a difference. The flt times back were better but we flew into CHS on the way home and stayed. I went straight to bed and I still was exhausted.

I know my kids would be AWFUL if I took them. They would be cranky as anything and miserable.

I still vote DL and the beach!!!! ::yes::

And even there-- you still have to deal with jet lag but it isn't as bad.

Look who wants to go to Disney!!

Summer-Fall2011007-4.jpg

Awww...how cute!

Don't even start with me on long flights...:upsidedow

Honestly, I think the flight to HI would be worth it. If you're jet lagged, you can just nap on the beach!

My sister went to LA for her SIL's wedding a few weeks ago. There's lots of stuff to do in that area. They did both Disneyland and Legoland, in addition to various different parks and a things. I don't think they went to the beach.

If we ever get stationed further west (well in the States...obviously I'm pretty far west right now...or east, depending on how you want to look at it:lmao:) I'm sure we'll do both Disneyland and Hawaii. If there weren't so many places to see around here, we'd probably do Hawaii before we left. Instead, we opted for a beach in the Philippines.

The Mad Tinkler :lmao:

Be careful what you wish for -- I'm actually hoping for a few overcast days down there!! :scared1::rotfl:

I think it would be very neat to experience it. I'm sure it will seem very weird to be able to stand at the entrance to both parks!! And to be able to walk to them from the hotel!

So what's a good hotel within walking distance to DL?

We actually stayed at a "Good Neighbor Hotel" in an effort to save some $$. We stayed at the Howard Johnson - they have a NICE pool area. I used my Entertainment Card and got the room for like $60. We went at the end of March - spring break time. I couldn't justify the extra $$ to stay at the Disneyland Hotel - although I kept watching rates just in case!!!! If I recall, they offered a significant discount for the "resort" hotels that ended the day before we arrived....grrr. The HJ was nice - we had a huge room with a skylight. If we had a room on the other side of the hotel, you could probably watch the fireworks from your room - that's how close these hotels are!

Rinky - on your Disney Visa offer for 3x - did they put a minimum or any restrictions on it? We've had some where you had to spend like $5000 or it was only for groceries. I just got my statement saying I have a little over $100 in rewards. I wonder if I can use them at Disneyland Paris?

I have to charge at least $300 (in any category) each month for the 3X to kick in. That's not a problem for me at all considering that I still have my cruise and my WDW package to pay for. I also charge everything that buy each month so I can get the points.... and I mean everything! I charge all my groceries, gas, shopping, eating out.... I even have several of my household bills sent directly to the card. I ALWAYS pay it off in full each month though. 15 years ago when I was young and immature, I never could have done that, but now I am WAY too cheap to pay interest to a CC company! I'm always amazed at how many points we can rack up by the end of a year! And like Shelly.... I LOVE free money, especially Disney money!

I have no idea if you can use the rewards for DLP? That's a good question. The card says it can be used for all things Disney, but since you have a currency issue, I'm not sure. I'd call the CC company and ask. I bet you can though!

Good Morning everyone!:goodvibes

I decided this morning instead of doing my usual weight lifting I'd go for a walk- I haven't walked since the beginning of summer. So I listened to Subsonic Radio and got to walk down Main Street USA, I rode Soarin, heard Illuminations and a few other songs while I sweated thru my tank top. Good thing everyone in the neighborhood had their sprinklers running. I was the crazy lady running thru the yards like I was three years old.:rotfl2:

It was fun.

And HOT.

And I feel amazing.:woohoo:

Ready for the trip NOW!:goodvibes

Last night I was the crazy person wishing for a downpour, then standing outside in said pouring rain while watching a lightning cloud. I would have ran in the middle of the street and jumped in the puddles, but I don't live on a quiet street like I used to. :rotfl:

I got up earlier today to do some cleaning since we have company over tonight, but it's already so HOT that I've had just enough energy to check the Dis.

When we went we stayed at the Marriott Fairfield right next door to the HoJo. I was not impressed at all.
It was loud and people were obnoxious.
You are right about being able to see the fireworks-- we walked to the end of our hallway and watched them one night.

If I ever go back and can spend the $$, I'll stay at the Grand Californian. :cloud9: It is beautiful in there, but I love dark dark DARK interiors.
If I can't swing that, then we will use Mariott points and stay at the Mariott convention hotel.

Shelly--- I think we decided at one time that you needed to stay at the Disneyland Hotel. Didn't we? Or did I dream that???:rotfl2:

Well shoot. Now I want to go to Cali!!!!!!

Sometimes it's just FUN to be a kid again.
And of course we have energy to DIS. I think I have to go to the grocery store but I don't have the energy right now.:lmao:

And wow- I just noticed your ticker------ you are SO close to your trip!!!:cool1:

I love being a kid, which is a big part fo why i love Disney so much.:wizard: I even want to visit the Boneyard, despite not having any kid of my own, just because I love playgrounds! :cutie:

Less than 3 weeks before I leave. I'm SO excited!!!!!!:yay: That's another reason why I'm on the Dis so much, that's all I can think about.:upsidedow

Good Morning All -

10am and already 90 here, was just outside with the dog and it is hot hot hot. Plan on hibernating in the A/C today.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your walk, all I can say is better you than me. I told DH this morning if we were still booked for September I would be changeing our dates for sure after these recent hot days.

As it is I was checking to see what is available in November and did mention to DH it would only cost $200 to change our flights maybe a bit more

DH just sort of grumbled saying it will be fine in October.

Me too Me too! I know when we went DLH and Paradise Pier were about the same in price and the Grand Califorian was top dollar. But they could have offered the others to me for free and I still would have stayed at DLH, when you wait to stay someplace since you were about five years old there was no contest!

I do agree the GC is beautiful although I do wonder if it is noisy since it is right there in the park area?

::yes::
It's like a sickness--- the closer you get to your trip the more frenzied you become with all consuming thoughts of it. Then when you think it is just about gonna kill you, you're off.:cool1:
And then before you know it you're back on the way home and you're left saying "What the heck just happened?"
And after you come up for air from the laundry pile you start planning another one.

Wicked, vicious circle.

:rotfl2:

I don't even want to think about when I come back. Especially since I know this trip is it, there won't be another one for at least 4-5 years, if not more. :sad1: We just can't afford to go each year, especially with the price of airfare leaving from Canada. The taxes are crazy! 300$ of taxes on a 200$ tickets!! :scared1:

So only focusing on the now trip. Even if my house cleaning suffers a bit... :cool1:

Morning Sheila!!!!
Stay cool in the AC today-- there's no need at all to go out in the heat! Just don't change your dates. Again.:rotfl:

Ronnmel- Ugh- the taxes are awful for you! I can't believe they are that high!
I don't know when we will go back to WDW. I say that every stinkin year and end up booking again. But this time I really need to save some $$. So we'll see.....

Shelly should be here in a bit-- Jack Jack had a vet appt. Can't wait to see how he did.:goodvibes

I'm going to the store. I have an itch to shop, so that might be a bad thing.:lmao:

I'll be back soon......

Good morning! :goodvibes Wow is it a HOT one here. Hotter than WDW. :faint: I think it is 90-something already. :scared1:

Took Jack to the vet. He did pretty well. He was a bit nervous and the assistant lady was kind of loud and he didn't care for that. But he took his shot very well. He is 5 1/2 lbs now!

And........

5 WEEKS until Disney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

Golly 5 weeks seems so close, I need to count how many weeks for me. The boys must be getting excited!

In the meantime I will dance for your 5 weeks

:banana::dance3::banana:

I have to tell ya with this heat wave my excitement about going to Disney is just not what it should be. I keep worrying about threads I read where it was so unseasonably hot last October.

I know you must be thinking about Disney in August everytime you step outside. You know what is funny though, the two trips we made in August one the first week and one the last week I do not recall the heat only the downpours we encountered and stepping out onto the sidewalk at MCO to get our Mears transfer(before ME) and having to wait about a half hour in what felt like an oven.

Happy to hear Jack took his shot like a lil trooper!

Cute picture of Jack in the tote bag!!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Oh - at Disneyland - I've heard they are all really close. I'd love to stay at the Disneyland hotel ($$$), but we can use DVC points at Grand Californian, so I'm sure that's where we'd stay.

They are all very close. But dang the Disney hotels are expensive. :scared1:
Shelly -

Just like all babies Jack looks like and angel fast asleep.

The Purex sheets is a good idea, I bought them for our trip last year since we would have had a W/D in the villa...no laundry for me this time, if I run out of something I will just buy new. :rotfl:

When we went to DL there was no question of where to stay, it had to the the DisneyLand Hotel, since I had dreamed of going the from the time I was a little girl. The have since refurbished the room and the lighted headboards look amazing and changed the pool area too so I am due to go back there again, I have to work on DH with that one.

Walking to the parks is wonderful one thing about staying in the DL Hotel was in the Lobby they had pictures that were takens of famous people who stayed there as guests of Walt.

Another nice thing that I liked was walking to the parks you passed thru what is their downtown area. You have to walk to the monorail and we did ride it once or twice but after that we just walked to the parks it really is not far at all.

Exactly, Jack is an angel -- when he is asleep!!! :rotfl:

That would be so cool to be able to walk to everything and with DTD right there too! :thumbsup2
I vote for DL too! :rotfl2::cool1:

I thought you might vote that way!! :rotfl:

I just might have a few (hundred) questions for you Sea!! :yay:

Awww...how cute!

Thanks! :)

I bet you've had your fair share of long flights Becca!!

I wonder if my kids are too big/old for Legoland....I'll have to look into that.

Wow you are my hero!! Going for a walk in this nasty heat. :faint: I can hardly walk out to get the mail. :rotfl:

But um, you might want to go back and change that to -- I *glistened* thru my tank top. ;):rotfl2:

If your weather is what we've been having, Disney in summer will be BETTER!

We were just talking about it when the kids were complaining about how nasty hot and humid it was. We all agreed it was not this bad at WDW! Plus being there makes it better anyway!

On Tuesday, the only place IN THE WORLD with a higher dewpoint than Minnesota was THE AMAZON RAIN FOREST!!! Needless to say, we stayed indoors as much as possible. Sarah's game on Monday night was canceled because the heat index was too high. She has tournament tonight and tomorrow and while it will be 90 degrees again, the humidity that left yesterday is back, but not quite as bad as last weekend.

So, what I'm saying is - WDW will be just fine! Just don't expect the pools to be super cool and refreshing. I found the water a bit warm!

Yay for 5 weeks!!!
:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Shelly--- I think we decided at one time that you needed to stay at the Disneyland Hotel. Didn't we? Or did I dream that???:rotfl2:

Well shoot. Now I want to go to Cali!!!!!!

Yeah, I think we did decide that once. :rotfl: But holy cow I priced out the end of Aug 2012 to get an idea for Aug 2013 and apparently that is not value season out there like it is at WDW. :faint: I could save well over $1000 by staying at a Good Neighbor hotel and possibly even in a suite. So IDK what to do. The pools would worry me. Disney always has the best pools.

I'm going to the store. I have an itch to shop, so that might be a bad thing.:lmao:

I'll be back soon......

Yeah, we've heard that one before.......:rolleyes1:rotfl:

Yes, you need to count down in weeks. It seems so much closer and goes much faster that way!! ::yes::

I am worried about the heat down there. DS12 doesn't care for it and doesn't last too long outside in it. I just know he is going to be whiny. :sad2: Hopefully we can make it thru and still manage to have fun.

Our very first trip was in October and it was very hot. In the 90's all week. But that was the first week of the month. I guess you never know. Last November we froze part of the trip. :upsidedow

You are right, the heat will be better there than here. There is plenty to do in the AC down there and we always have the pools. I never like cold pool water anyway! :rotfl:

I hope you guys make it through the tournaments okay. :wizard: Good luck!
