Thoughts: We ate at this restaurant in 2008. It was at lunch time and we were sick with colds. I only got the chicken noodle soup. It was very good considering I felt like death. The line was indeed long- out the doorand we had to wait a few minutes for a table but we did get one. I definitely want to return at some point but have not made plans to do so this trip unless we are at DTD and need a quick bite. Rating: 4 out of 5, for the chicken noodle soup helping to clear my stuffy head.
Fultons:
What we ordered:
Pacific Rim Blue Crab Cake - super lump crab cake, cucumber salad and mustard sauce $14.95
House Salad - greens, tomatoes, endive, carrots, and cucumbers with dark balsamic vinaigrette $6.95
Classic Caesar Salad - Caesar dressing and house made garlic croutons $7.95
Alaska King Crab Claws - 1lb. served steamed with red skin potatoes $58.95
Rhode Island - Narragansett Lobster - over roased whole 1 1/4lb Maine lobster, stuff with tender gulf shrimp and bay scallops $44.95
(We also had sides of asparagus and potatoes and spinach as well as desserts but I dont remember what they were.)
Thoughts: I remember walking out of this restaurant thinking I was going to die I was so full. Yes we ordered a ton of stuff- we wanted to try it all.
We were lucky enough to be seated right at the front of the restaurant, looking out over the water, and timed it (unknowingly) just as the sun was setting. It was beautiful. Service was spectacular, the waiter always knew what we needed before we asked. I remember he got a big tip (somewhere in the 30% range
) because of it. The food was wonderful- Marks lobster hung over both sides of his plate.
That saidI have read that this place has cut back on portion size, yet kept the prices the same. Which would be fine for me- I dont eat a ton and struggled to eat what I had, but I do know that some people have not been happy with the size of food theyve been given recently. It is on the more expensive side and I dont think it is on the dining plan. We paid $200 + tip for the two if us for this meal, and while it was worth it, we have no plans to return this trip with the kids. It rates 4 out of 5.
Wolfgang Puck Café- (weve only dined here at lunch time, twice.)
What we ordered:
Crab Cake - Sauteed Maryland Style jumbo lump crab cake with marinated roma tomatos, fresh basil aioli, garnished with micro greens $15.95
Butternut Squash Soup - One of our signatures. Oven roasted butternut squash with roasted red pepper sauce and chives $7.95
Sushi--- California Roll - Cucumber, avocado and kanikama inside out $12.95
Spinach Salad - Spinach, radicchio, blue cheese, apples and caramelized pecans $11.95
Thoughts: I cant remember everything we orderedI think the menu has changed some. We dined here when we were sick in 2008. I got the butternut squash soup and it would have been wonderful if the cook had not stumped his toe while adding sugar to the recipe. It was bad. Mark liked the sushi. I ordered the spinach salad during an earlier trip in 2007- but back then it had salmon on it. It was very good. We would definitely return to this place. It rates 4 out of 5.
We have also dined at Capn Jacks and Planet Hollywood. I dont remember either of them being stand outs in my mind. I do know that I didnt care for Planet Hollywood- it was loud and the food was just eh. Cap'n Jacks I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich no longer on the menu. It was good in a fills you up sort of way, so it is not a place we have returned to since then. Both rate around 2.5 out of 5 for us.
And that's it with DTD dining for us. Not a ton of places- but enough to say that we do have some that we do like in that area.
