Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

Thank you Shelly! The cruise and Alaska was mega-awesome! We had perfect, beautiful weather everyday on the cruise, very smooth sailing. Excellent food and service. Loved our mini-suite and private balcony, it was so nice. Glacier Bay was breathtaking - we saw hump back whales, orcas, seals, porpoises, bald eagles, bears, etc. Did a train ride in Skagway and tram ride in Juneau. Vancouver was rainy, but Whistler was nice. Did some hiking and saw two amazing waterfalls. Took about 5,000 pictures and 3 hours of video. Got to sort it all out and post it up on a blog.

Would highly recommend everyone to do this trip. Seeing Alaska by cruise ship is wonderful. The state is huge and so very beautiful. Princess Cruises took good care of us and we put a deposit down for future cruise!

I have to convince my DH (Mr. Seasick) to take an Alaskan cruise!! It sounds wonderful! I know he would absolutely love the beauty of Alaska, being that he is such an avid outdoorsman and sportsman.

Sea, when you post a TR or blog, please give us the link so we can see some of your pics! :goodvibes

Awww, sorry to hear about your weather. I will send you some of our nice Santa Monica weather today to cool you off!

BTW, yesterday was Disneyland's 56th birthday. We drove down to see Chris' girlfriend and take her to lunch at Blue Bayou. The park put on a mini-birthday ceremony in Town Square. Check out my video here:

Sea thanks for the lil bit of Disney , it made my day :goodvibes

I know!! :scared1:

That's what I keep telling myself!! :thumbsup2:lmao:

Wow it's HOT at your house too!

You wouldn't say that when you were here and stuck inside for 7 months of winter!!! :sad2:

Rinky -

I second what Shelly said! I do not like the heat and humidity but I really really don't like the cold and snow and ice.

A very slow time of the year I hope!

Yeah Shelly check out your ticker! Guess what else--- you get to say "Next month I'll be in Disney World!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Squeeeeeeeeee!

Shawna--- glad your head is better. I pulled a neck muscle over the weekend arm wrestling Mark. :rotfl2: I was so sure I could take him!!!:rotfl2: So I'm still taking Excedrin. At least I'll have some energy to burn with all of that caffeine in it!:lmao:
As far as posting from WDW-- I'll have my Iphone with me so I can post a few updates but I'm not taking my computer so the big stuff will have to wait. I'll probably give you guys brief updates of what Shelly's doing as she updates me before I leave for my trip and she'll probably do the same as soon as she gets home and I'm still there. Although it will be sad for her, b/c her trip will be all over. :( waaaaah!

OMG!! You are my twin!! I hurt a muscle in my neck Friday night doing a flip over the couch for my dd!!! LOL...I am better, but man, was I sore!!! Note to self**after 30 do not do body tricks for your children*...unless of course you are an athlete or in absolute great shape...of which, I am neither!!!

heat is pretty bad again here today..heat index is 105---as we speak a terrific storm is coming!!! Blue-black clouds, thunder and lightning!! Wind is picking up...must gonna be a doozy...little Annie is pacing and whining...she's a weather predictor...and a chicken at that!! LOL

and I never, never ,never bring my laptop to Disney either! I don't want anything extra to pack, drag thru security, or in anyway distract me from the Disney magic!:wizard:

I have a feeling my DH would get seasick too, so cruises aren't really an option for us. It's not that big of a deal in most cases, but an Alaskan cruise would be nice. Who knows...we may get stationed there at some point and a cruise wouldn't be necessary.

My grandparents used to go on cruises all the time, even though my grandma gets seasick. It's funny, because she's the one who likes them. My grandpa doesn't really, and he doesn't get seasick AT ALL! They both have cancer right now, so they had to stop traveling. They've been a lot of places though.

We bring a laptop on every trip, so we can back up our pictures. We never buy the internet, so it doesn't really act as a distraction.

Let's move onto DTD Dining!

We ate at Planet Hollywood for lunch on our very first trip. We had no plans to, but we decided to go to DTD on our last day and somehow ended up there! It was very neat inside and we had a nice time. I don't remember what we had to eat, but remember that it was okay. Sorry, no pics.

We have been to Wolfgang Puck Express three times for lunch! Each time was great. The food is very good and so is the service. It is an especially good deal for a CS meal if you are on the DDP, since it is kind of costly.

We had dinner at Earl of Sandwich once. It was either 2007 or 2008. We had heard so many good things about this place and were excited to try it. Our first mistake was going in there on a Friday night. The line was HUGE. We waited quite sometime to even order. After we ordered we waited in a mass of people for our number to be called. Once we finally got our food there was nowhere to sit. We ended up outside leaning on a landscape ledge. I don't remember what DH got, but he wasn't impressed. And he usually likes everything! The sandwich I got was supposed to be hot and it wasn't. And DS12 got the peanut butter and jelly sandwich and the peanut butter was warm and runny. :faint: There was nothing there for DS9, so he just ate part of my bun. At least the bread there is good! I'd like to give the place another try sometime, but we just haven't squeezed it in again.

Cooke's of Dublin. :sad2: After doing WPE 2 trips in a row we decided to give Cooke's a try in January 2009. The menu looked good and we thought it would be a nice change. The service was good and quick. Everything looked very good. The kids and I got the Battered Chicken Tenders. DH had some type of pot pie thing. Our chicken looked and smelled very good, but tasted very plain, bland, and just not good. DH said his was okay, but wasn't thrilled with it. So we were very disappointed and wished we had gone to WPE again! For dessert the kids had ice cream cones. They were huge and in waffle cones and very good! DH and I had to try the “Doh-Bars” - deep fried Snickers bars. That was kind of nasty! The first bite wasn't bad, but then it was just too much. I left there not feeling so well. We have been back since, but just for ice cream cones! They have soft serve Snickers ice cream, which DS12 just loves. DS9 and I love the chocolate, and DH loves the strawberry.

continued....

We went to McDonald's in DTD on our very first trip. McDonald's is McDonald's. Tasted the same in Florida as it does in Pennsylvania! :rotfl: It has since closed and been turned into a Latin chicken restaurant – Pollo Campero. Which we plan to try this time!

We finally tried T-Rex last November and loved it!! We had a fantastic time there and the food was great. And the atmosphere is so awesome! We aren't going back this year since we are on FD and it's not on the DDP. It is on the schedule for 2012 though!

So where will we eat in DTD this year? Well, we don't have any ADR's there. I think we will only eat one meal there and it will likely be at Pollo Campero. And we may stop at Cooke's for ice cream and maybe Goofy's Candy Co. at some point.

Thoughts/Opinions/Suggestions?

Good Morning!!! :)

Great DTD dining post Shelly!!

You have so many experiences there.

I do remember your awful time at Cookes--- when we passed it in May I looked at the menu and thought of your terrible time. The deep fried Snickers sounds........ painful.:lmao: I have had something similar but not at WDW. Yeah it made me ill after one bite.

We would like to return to EoS at some point as well--- but there is never any seating.

Still want to try WPE....

and what can I say--- those cupcakes at Goofy's candy Co look fab!

Morning Jodi! :goodvibes

Yes, we do spend our fair share of time at DTD. Therefore, we eat there a lot!! :upsidedow

I knew the deep fried snickers bar was going to be nasty, but my curiosity got the best of me. :rotfl:

Those cupcakes do look quite yummy!! :cloud9: I have been hungry for cupcakes ever since we were talking about the ones at Starring Rolls last week! :faint:

Hey Shelly...We have eaten at WPE twice also,..it was, from what I remember, pretty good...EoS, we have had 2 or 3 times--it's always a long line and the seating is minimal at best!! But our food has always been really good...T-Rex had good food...it just reminds me so much of the Rain Forest Cafe! I don't like all the racket and crazy lights! LOL...but I do have good memories there...it's where Meghan's family and mine had our Dis meet!!! We've been to the Chocolate place,Ghirardelli...it's really good!! They used to have a sample of a flavor of the day,...pretty cool!!

We have not tried any of the places you have ate at in DTD. I will be interested in seeing how you like Pollo Campero.

I know we are eating at Raglan Road for sure but since I am still thinking of maybe heading down to DTD & skipping AK the day we go to Boma for breakfast. I am still debateing about where we might have lunch if we go to DTD that day. We might try Cap't Jacks, just not sure about the menu there, I keep thinking I should make an ADR for Planet Hollywood since I know we liked the food there.

I guess you have decided against going to Planet Hollywood this trip? I remember you were not having any luck getting an ADR for the time you wanted.

Hey, did y'all ever see the "Friends" epidsode when Phoebe was about to get married, so she was giving some of her apartment things away? She had a wall picture with a lady coming out of the frame, and she gave it to Monica, who, of course, didn't like it. Then Rachel started to play with her and was making over it, like she wanted it. So Monica called her bluff and said that she woud give it to her. I know, you had to be there, but it was so funny with the two of them "fighting" over the picture in front of Phoebe, when neither of them wanted it at all. That's what Jodi and Sheila's fight over Jack reminds me of! All that "no, you should have him" stuff. ;) What can I say, I'm easily amused!

Shelly, he must be getting better because he was not front page news. I like that saying about why God made puppies so cute. Little Jack definitely wins you over with his cuteness! I'm sure his brain will eventually equal his beauty.

:rotfl2: I remember that episode!!

I hope you're right and his brain equals his beauty soon! :wizard:

Exactly!!

We really like WPE, but need a little break from it. Hopefully I won't regret trying something new this time! I want to try EoS again too, but if it's crowded and there's no seating I'm not even going to attempt it. T-Rex didn't really remind me af RFC too much. Maybe just because we were having such an awesome time. I liked all those crazy lights & sounds!! I really need to get into Ghirardelli!

I am interested to see what we think of Pollo Campero too!! We were actually in DTD the night of their grand opening, but we had an ADR at Cape May later that night so we didn't get to try it. I think that's why we are wanting to get there this time!

I forgot I had thought about going to PH on this trip! :upsidedow It was one of those times when I was changing plans around. But they have since change again and we won't even be in DTD that evening. :rotfl:

Great post Shelly! I loved EoS so I'm bummed it wasn't a hit for you all. I agree, the seating is horrible. They need to expand I think.

Did I read correctly that T-Rex will be added to the Dining Plan in 2012? Or do you just plan to eat there again in 2012?

Yes, it would be great if they would expand EoS!

No, I just meant that we are not going to do the DDP next year so we will likely go to T-Rex then!

So is there a definite trip in your near future??? Nice ticker! :thumbsup2

I think EOS is sort of like Beaches & Cream. You need to go early or later than the typical meal time to avoid some crowds. And the weekends are bound to be worse.
We've lucked out when we've gone to EOS and found seating. I've loved the sandwiches I've had there. The kids liked the PBJ (That's all I'm saying!)

We ate at EOS our last visit and just weren't impressed. The lines were horrible, and the food was just kind of so-so. I don't know if we would go back.

We've only ever eaten in DDT once 10 years ago! DH and I ate at WGP and I wasn't impressed. I got lasagna and didn't care for it. Maybe I should give it another shot. Usually we eat dinner before heading out to shop and we get dessert from Goofy's Candy Company.

And I'll just say for the record ONE more time that warm PB is just plain gross!

Yeah, I think if we ever try it again we will go at an off hour.

That was pretty much our experience.

Yes!!! Thanks Shelly! I thought a 13th Birthday girls only trip would be a good way to replace our canceled October trip. Morghan loved the idea so here starts the planning. :thumbsup2
