Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

I'm really looking forward to trying WPE. I'm a little confused though, is there only one location for the express and one for the TS, or is there an express "part" at the Cafe? And where exactly are they all located???

Yes!!! Thanks Shelly! I thought a 13th Birthday girls only trip would be a good way to replace our canceled October trip. Morghan loved the idea so here starts the planning. :thumbsup2

Awesome! :cool1:

There is a WPE in the Marketplace, sort of behind the Christmas Store. Then on the West Side of DTD there is another WPE, plus the WP Cafe, and the WP Upstairs Dining Room -- the are all 3 in the same building.

Okay so the kids are at a friends house this afternoon, so I did a little trial packing run!! :rotfl: Remember my new carry-on? Well I wanted to see if I could get all my vacation clothes into it!

Here it is with 12 dresses:

12 dresses and 12 shorts:

12 dresses, 12 shorts, 8 tank tops, and 8 regular tops:

And all closed up with 12 dresses, 12 shorts, 8 tank tops, 8 regular tops, 2 swimsuits, and all undergarments:

:cool1:

And there is a tiny bit of room to spare!! Not enough for all my shoes though. :upsidedow

Way to go with the packing, Shelly! :thumbsup2 I can't believe all that you were able to fit in there! I like the way you rolled up the dresses to save room. So are you able to leave it packed, or do you still plan to wear some of those things before your trip? And you still have all the little side compartments to put things, don't you? Wow, I am super-impressed! :worship:

The only place we have ever eaten at in DTD is WPE. I did pick it based on some reviews, but before I had ever become a regular Dis reader. I guess I got lucky and made a good choice! I don't remember what we each had, but I think I may have had the Bar-be-que chicken pizza. I'm pretty sure my DD had a pasta dish, and I think my DH had a salad. I remember all of us liking what we ordered.

What is that dish in the picture you posted, I believe it was the second one down? It looks delicious!

wow - Shelly - impressive packing!! I like that bag - where'd you get it again?

Now what are you going to do for shoes and toiletries etc?
Did you say you were going to only do carry-ons this time? That's the beauty of summer travel - the clothes are so much smaller and lighter!

Hi Shelly and Jodi!
Well, we are back and settled from WDW. I am now all caught up on your PTR!
We had such a great time, and cannot wait to go back in January!
Shelly- great job on your packing- much better than my style of packing. I always say that I am not going to pack a lot, but I always seem to pack way too much!
Talk to you ladies soon!!!

You're welcome! :goodvibes

Thanks Teri! :)

Oh heck no, I unpacked it all! :upsidedow I guess I could have left about half of the dresses in there. There are only about 5-6 Sundays left before vacation and Sunday seems to be the only day I wear a dress around here.

Yep, there are little side compartments on the bag, but they aren't too awful big. :sad2:

I had the BBQ chicken pizza at WPE once too! That picture is of: "Oven-Roasted Chicken, Mushroom and Onion Melt - Caramelized onion, mushrooms, sweet red and yellow peppers, mozzarella, chipotle honey sauce" It's pretty good too!

:thumbsup2 Love your sweet packing skills Shelly!

Thanks Kelli! :goodvibes

Thanks Sheree! :) I got it at the Totes & Sunglass store.

I am guessing we are still going to have to check 1 or 2 bags. One would be great! But we usually check 3. I figure if I can get everyone's clothes & shoes into their own carry-on (and spread my shoes out thru the boys carry-ons!!), then we will put all the extra stuff in the checked luggage.

It will be interesting to see how it all works out!

Hey Lauren! :goodvibes

Tell us all about your trip!! popcorn:: How did you survive the heat???

I'm sure I will pack way too much too. :faint: I highly doubt I will need 12 dresses, 12 shorts, and 16 shirts for 10 days!! :rotfl:

Ah, I'm going to have to look around here for one of those!

I highly doubt I will need 12 dresses, 12 shorts, and 16 shirts for 10 days!! :rotfl:

Oh, you never know! You might need to change clothes a little more often if you take breaks from the heat - you'll be glistening quite a bit!

The trip was fantastic!:goodvibes
It was most definitely hot and humid. We took it very slow (hey, it's not like we haven't been there before:rotfl:) and drank LOTS of water. Water is crucial (as I'm sure you know), since the heat takes so much out of you. It was very, very crowded, worse than we went over spring break IMO. I think the heat made it feel that much more crowded. There were TONS of tour groups. And the tour groups all seemed very large. I normally have no problem with tour groups, but the tour groups were very rude. They would literally push my nine year old daughter out of the way to get in line. I lost it when at Toy Story Mania (at park opening), one young man from a Brazil tour group SHOVED my DD9. And I am not exaggerating. I tried to talk to the young man about how rude he was, but he didn't understand English.
So, I hear that these tour groups will be gone in August, so you will have nothing to worry about with them.:goodvibes
To manage with the heat, take breaks, drink lots of water, and enjoy the indoor shows (like Philharmagic, etc.) Those shows are great in the heat of the day!
Talk to you soon!

Nice job on the trial-run packing Shelly!!!! :thumbsup2 I'm sure the boys will be more than happy to carry some of your shoes! :)

That is true. Glistening. :lmao:

Oh my!! Those tour groups are not fun. We encountered them when we went in January. :sad2: Nothing like what you experienced though. I would have flipped if someone was shoving my kids!! Too bad he didn't understand you when you were trying to tell him off. :rotfl:

Thanks for the hot weather tips! :thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes

Well even if the boys don't want to carry my shoes, they are going to anyway!!

Shelly, I totally agree with you on DTD dining. Our favorite place is WPE! I think the food is awesome and such a great deal on the DP. Every year I say I am going to try EoS, but when you are on the DP it is hard to pass up WPE. If you do end up at WPE, just try something different. I got the BBQ chicken quesadilla on our last trip and loved it! DH always gets the half roasted chicken with garlic butter mashed potatoes.... also very yummy. But if you do make it to the new Mexican place, I'll be eager to hear how you like it. I'd like to try it out myself.

I want to try T Rex too, but I think just like you do and hate to pay OOP for it when we have the dining plan. Another place we like though is Ghirardelli's!!!! YUM! Not really a place for a meal, but a great snack stop for sure! :cloud9:

You're packing! I'm so jealous! I've got 3 long months before I can start that!

Love that bag! I'm very impressed that you fit all that in there. Now you just need a second one for all your shoes. :rotfl:

Shelly -
I can not believe all you were able to pack in your new carryon bag. :thumbsup2

I was going to say the same thing about "glistening" but Mndisneygirl beat me to it :rotfl:

Lala -

I had been following one of the threads about the Tour Groups since I too had run ins with them back when I visited the end of January and it seemed another time too but I can not recall when it was.

Anyway for anyone who is interested, a DISer from Brazil posted the times when they have school breaks so if anyone wanted to avoid the Tour Groups.
I would be a crazy woman if someone pushed my child, that is not just rude but dangerous.
So sorry that happened to you Lala

I noted it down for future reference. Here is the post.

I am hopeing not arriveing until Oct 19th we will miss them.

The dates when BTG are more present in Orlando are July, December and January (when school's out here), the week before Easter ("Semana Santa" holiday) and the week of October 12th ("Dia da Criança", many schools have no classes during this week).

Even when we were staying at the Doubletree nearby, we didn't spend that much time in DTD. We used it to transfer to some resorts for visits, but we didn't walk through. I don't know why we didn't go down there to eat, but it was summer, so I don't remember being very hungry.

The only place we've eaten there is WPE, and it's the only place at Disney that has given me a stomachache. I think we ended up at DTD on a Friday night as well.

As much as I love shopping, I don't really do it at Disney. Logan would rather spend time at the resort resting, so DTD is at the very end of our list of things to do.

Good morning! :goodvibes

You need to squeeze T-Rex in sometime, it is so very cool! :cool1:

I'm lucky that the rest of the family loves DTD too. Sometimes they'd rather go there than the parks!! :upsidedow

Good Morning everyone!

You guys were chatty without me yesterday. :) I had to take the kids to Game Stop so that they could sell some of their games and stuff for Disney. Belle got $29 for her stuff and Drew got $30. It was great for me--- they actually cleaned out something--- and great for them--- they never play those things anyway. So far the running tally for the kids spending $$ is-- Belle - $125 Drew $180 And MC----- I have no clue b/c she hoards every penny she's getting from being a nanny this summer.:lmao: IDK how much she will actually bring with her from her stockpiled savings.

Shelly---- whoa girl you have mad packing skillz! :goodvibes Good job!:goodvibes I'm so glad you got that bag- it is awesome. When I went to the outlets in CHS I went to the Totes store--- and saw your bag! I looked at it really good to see how big it was. It was a great size. When we were walking past the store I yelled OOOh I have to go in here Shelly ALWAYS gets great stuff in here! And Mark sort of groaned. It was funny. He was happy when I didn't buy anything.:lmao:

I think we are going to check one bag for things we buy and for toiletries and stuff we can't pack otherwise.
The rest will be carry ons!:cool1:

Lauren------- I'm so sorry your trip was hot and tour groups ruined it for you. I do know that they act any darn way they want to and then pretend they don't speak a lick of English when you yell at them. Of course they understand you-- it's how they get away with doing what they do. Maybe a slap to the face would get your point across???:scared1: I'm kidding of course, but if someone dared touch my child it would be all over. I'm pretty sure someone would end up in the hospital. Or jail. Or both. It's just ridiculous that WDW can't do something about their behaviour. I hope your next trip is a lot better.

Sooooooo- who's ready for my DTD dining experience???????????
